A question for all you NFL-heads out there. Why, when the competition is played exclusively between teams from the U.S.A, are the eventual winners of the Superbowl also called World Champions? That's always puzzled me. Now undoubtedly, the Superbowl winners could be put up against any other gridiron team anywhere in the world and they would hammer their opponents. The fact is though, that the NFL is not a global championship. Just wondering; no malice intended.

Dont quote me on this but i think that other countries can apply teams for admission to the NFL but i think with the NFL casting the decision its almost impossible, as it was founded in America all teams are there. The UK want a franchise in the NFL soon (bad idea), i dont know though.
So, a bit of a closed shop then. Therefore, they can't (ATM) have a 'world' champion.

Technically they can, but at the moment the winner will always be an American team ;)

Whoever ends up winning the Super Bowl will be considered the "World Champion" as its the best team in the best (only) major American football league in the world. Who else is going to beat them??

As I said in my earlier post. I just think it's a bit arrogant to call themselves 'world' champions.

You ask the same question all the time. Are you just incredibly dull?

It was rugby until they started chucking it forward.

The First true World Bowl was won by London Monarchs, they had been going less than a year, shows how mickey mouse the whole 'sport' is.

Is it just me...?

I find this american football the most tedious sport on telly. i have tried and tried to get interested time and time again. all to no Chess.

Its all stoppage, six seconds action (if youre lucky) and a 2 minute stop.

Needless to say I have given up now!

For someone who is genuinely trying to get into American Football I'd highly recommend getting a book like "Football for Dummies". I toyed with NFL for a few years not really getting the attraction, bought the book which I used as a reference when watching, then about 6 years ago the penny dropped with it. Really got it and utterly love it now.
People always compare it with football when it's a totally different game. So much more to it than 1st appears. Give it another go scorer......you need to pick a team, find out about them and follow them. I guarantee you'll enjoy it more.

I reckon the Superbowl will be between Pittsaburgh and Dallas

one things for sure the Redskins aint even going to the playoffs

Zorn out!!
