OK he wasn't born within a stones throw of Maine Road and he wasn't at York City away but I guess a major yank sporting star wearing our shirt instead of a rag, dipper, arse or chelski top shows me must be making waves in the States (of all places) and around the world.

City have moved into a whole new world and it can only be good for us, we were in Florida at a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game and it was unreal the amount of people that came up to us asking about City when the spotted my lads City shirts.

Recently in Naples (Fl) , a rag told me his kids school team now all wear City kits.

well I guess he's trying to show his arrogance that he thinks he is better than most average Americans who know f-all about soccer, by showing his support for a team that is better than the Rags

Yeah I think when Barca were over for their US tour last summer Bryant even did a day training with them. Pretty sure I remember a feature on ESPN about it. I want to say football might have even been his favourite sport to play growing up, just not the money/recognition in the States so he went with Basketball.

Kobe actually spent a lot of his childhood on Spain/Italy I believe as his dad was playing pro basketball over there. I want to say that he wasn't living permanently in the USA until he was a teenager and that's why he loves football like he does.

Think you're probably right there. I know he speaks something like 5 languages rather fluently. Remember when Team USA was in the Olympics in China, he was doing most of the foreign press interviews in their home languages. Massive respect for that.
