N'Golo Kante

It would be Thomas Partey for me, the person we should have bought from Atletico as Fern's long-term successor.

Kante has lost his legs over the last two seasons.

For me because we have Rodri we need a more of box to box type to play beside him so we have sone energy with a little bit of creativity. If we play two DMs we’ll end up nullifying ourselves as well as the opposition. I’ve thought Aouar was perfect for us, a bit creative, energetic and works hard in defence. As it stands he’s likely to go to Arsenal who have a real shot at top 4 this season.

Partey is an incredible player and I can't believe our scouts didn't see how far superior he was to Rodri.

I’m not privy to those meetings (wish I was a fly) but I imagine they went for the stats/numbers when looking at Rodri at that time.

Rodri isn’t Busquets. He may well become like him in future but right now he isn’t. In addition, his physical attributes (besides height) don’t suit the team.

Partey is aggressive. Same with Kante especially in the way they attempt to win the ball back. Partey also has the pace that Rodri is missing. Good leap on him as well.

I’ll keep adding that I have nothing against Rodri but I’d be happy for City to go for someone of that ilk. We’ve had De Jong, Yaya, Barry, and Dinho that gave us the physicality and such.

I thought that at the time, but assumed our scouts knew better. Closer to Hom could be the answer I feel. Doyle passes and tackles and is more mobile than rodder. kid will run through brick walls for city, he has the minerals.

He adds some muscle and he’ll be bouncing players off him :)

In all seriousness, he does have the minerals as you’ve said. Exciting times ahead for him.

I mentioned this yesterday, with Rodri going the other way.

Arsenal appear to be in pole position although it may well be a toss up with Aouar.

One of my favourite players, great attitude, keeps it simple, and doesn't have an ego. He'd still be an upgrade in terms of what we are putting up with presently, but he's no longer the force he was and wouldn't make sense from a longevity perspective. There will be much younger, better, and probably cheaper options available.
