NI woman suspended sentence for having abortion

He is a wum, don't respond to him and he gets less attention, that's all he is after
Done! Thanks for the heads up. Been on the road for 6 days and been trying to catch up with what's going on and couldn't help myself.

Urmston,

Too bad you are not a Yank, because we are currently having a referendum on which right wing nut case is going to attempt to beat Hillary in November. You sound like you would fit right in now....or even back in the day, when blacks were slaves or just lynched for looking at you the wrong way.

If men had babies, abortion would not only be legal, but it would be free and openly available on every street in town!!!

What do you wear on your knuckles as they drag alone behind you?
Indeed. Inadequate 'men' are obsessed with oppressing women and girls. Casual sexism leads to casual rape.

As for Northern Ireland, it is a strange time warp. I've come across both protestants and catholics from there [both men and women] who are equally giddy about LGBT rights. I cannot help but feel that people who are 'threatened' by, say , homosexual men are having difficulties with their own sexualities, most usually due to the trauma of an orthodox religious upbringing [and I include Islam, Judaism, Hunduism and the rest in that]. I'd absorbed and accepted the basis of LGBT stuff by the time I was about 15. I am not sure why it takes some other people so long to grow up, it at all.

Would she have to declare the prosecution if she wanted a job in England?

I was surprised to hear someone who had done the same on the radio earlier say that this sort of thing was very common. She also said that while she could have come to England for the abortion she wouldn't have been able to get one on the NHS and because the cost of private care was prohibitive the best/only course of action was taking these pills.

Just goes to show the influence of religion in that part of the world remains.

Read urmston's post again - he said nothing of whether he agreed with abortion or not, just that since such a law exists then it should be obeyed.

Just like you wouldn't flaunt the strict PDA laws in some Arab countries and you wouldn't litter in Singapore. The laws may seem extreme but they are what they are and, in the case of countries with a democratically elected government, you have to assume they are the will of the people.

Incidentally, a Pro Life group in NI has proclaimed the suspended sentence far too lenient. Having someone disagree with you does not make them a troll.

Just because it's the law doesn't make it right.

If I was walking down a street on a very hot day and came across a dog locked in a car, and the dog was having severe difficulties breathing, I then smash the car window to rescue the dog, should I then be prosecuted for criminal damage?

have you ever heard of Jury Nullification?

I had a so called "mild tika" the other night, i am sure what it did to my arse is considered rape by any reasonable definition xD

Ok serious thread i'll go.

You deserved it you dirty curry eating ****.

Getting back on topic, the law regarding abortion in NI is a fucking disgrace.

Hopefully one day soon this ridiculous law in NI will be changed, fucking dreadful

I wonder if Urmston still practices his archery - I don't think that's been repealed yet. Or has ever committed any offence under the Road Traffic Acts; if so, and not been caught, did he hand himself in because he broke the law and should be punished?

(Me, I'm claiming the 5th on that one!)

But the assumption has to be that the people of NI do believe that the law is right and if it came to trial, a jury of people from NI would find her guilty.

I am pro choice and think the law is ridiculous, but as it stands it's a crime there and she shouldn't have done it.

Age old laws upheld by religious extremists in Government, welcome to Northern Ireland.

Sorry state of affairs.
