For those of you who do not know of Nick Drake, he was a singer songwriter who suffered heavily from depression, and died at the age of 26 years. Due to his depression, he was extremely shy and turned away from any media attention or record companies, so his genius music was not discovered completely until after his death 37 years ago (he sold little more than 3,000 records whilst alive).
His talent with the guitar was not only phenomenal, but unique. If he hadn't died at such a young age he could have been an all time great, and could quite comfortably have brushed shoulders with the likes of Bob Dylan; the music Drake wrote was in my opinion better than that of Dylan's.
I just wanted to post this up here in order to raise a little bit of awareness, and hopefully some fellow blues (supporters of other clubs, perhaps) will have him in their prayers on Friday.
R.I.P Nick Drake - 19 June 1948 – 25 November 1974. Thank you guys.
