Nicky Weaver interview in the MEN

will always be a favourite keeper of mine due to his top performances at so young an age.His first game was v the reggae boyz of course in 1998 before they went to the World Cup at Maine Rd.A guy behind said at the time at last we now have a decent keeper. He was right as in that game you could tell he had it to make it to the top.

I echo what others have said Weaver's performance against Ipswich was one of the best i have seen.It is funny how both him and Wright were expected to fight it out for the England jersey and neither made it.

He liked a scoop did Nicky!I remember him in O'Neils in Didsbury after we had beaten Chester in the FA cup.He was hammered and tried getting on the mic and sing.Shaun the manager at the time was trying to throw him out and we were all like,''Fuck off Shaun it's Nicky Weaver!!'',lol.

Good luck Nicky lad!

My memories about that day in 99 are blurred to say the least, can't remember dickovs goal except for the celebration. My most vivid memory is being stood directly on line with the 18 yard box and weaver beckoning the other players to come over as it all went a bit mad around me. Ta nicky and good luck

i remember watching him on his debut against jamaica at maine road. was absolutely awesome, right up there with the ipswich game. he must regret not sticking around at city when hughes came in.

It's six years since 2007 and I cannot for the life of me remember weaver in goal that season. Wierd.

werent he the sub goalie that came on when James went upfront against boro, last game of the season
Yes he was and it must have pissed off Jon Macken as a striker being left on the bench. I think James fell over his feet trying to score in the last minute.

It's common knowledge that the 'team spirit' of the squad from 1999-2001 was one of the best City as had, especially in recent years. That links nicely to the reports of a drinking culture around that time. (Weaver, Whitley, Dunne, Kennedy etc.)

Weaver's hardly a piss head. He was young at the time, did as the team were doing and had a bad spell in a bad season (2000-01) which he recovered from partly the following year but then had an injury which took him 3-4 years to recover from.

Still love the bloke. Genuinely would've had him back over Richard Wright given the needlessness of him! I do hope he finds a club. He did a job for us in 2006-07 considering he'd been out for 3 years and we were dog shit. His performance away at Everton was unreal that year. Good luck, Nick.

don't miss Michael brown off that drinking list
