Nico Williams

Better is too early to say. But to play as a winger in our system you need to be able to handle attacking 2 and 3 men and there’s a decent amount of that in his game. Would love to have someone with his speed but Pep has seemed to move away from that winger who attacks his man all the time in favor of more recycled possession. I’d have expected us to be all over him 3-4 years ago but have no idea now
One of the things Pep seems to do is rotate, in his second season he brought in pace, only to phase it out for control, i think Pep may well go for pace again this summer, the Brentford game showed up what was missing, i know there were a lot of reasons, but the biggest for me, was they went man to man marking, nobody could use skill as they were still there after getting beaten, no one could make a run as they were there first, we ended up passing to feet.We would not have bought him a few years ago, as virtually all Pep`s signings have had experience, it cuts the failure rate down, and our failure rate is tiny compared to others.

He’d be quite an astute signing for any club. If you watch any of the footage of him attacking from the wing and focus on the defender rather than Williams, you’ll see that they’re often unbalanced because they have absolutely no idea on which side of their body he will attack. He appears to be right-footed but one would be hard pushed to say so definitively, which means he could be used on either flank and pose a similar threat to the inside or outside. That’s a highly unusual skill.

Don't know much about the player but a young winger who has a couple of seasons under the belt and for a reasonable fee then bring him in.

Honestly I think he's a very exciting one. 20 and already established at international and top flight club level. He has that youthful slight look to him as well, he should develop excellently in physical terms.
