Nico Williams

Personally think we need strengthening in all other areas first, just my opinion, often wrong.
It's not the wingers that's the issue. It's the turgid play from the back through the center. If those are fixed and quickened. The wings will be just fine.

We have absolute dribblers out wide in Doku, Savio and Bobb. We need better play at CM and fullback.

It’s all linked though. We’re playing slower to minimise the risk of turnovers and transitions, but that means we create nothing as a result.

The defence has no confidence in the midfield and vice versa.

That's my point. If we got the ball earlier to the wings, like say Liverpool does, Doku, Bobb and Savio will destroy their defenders 1 v 1 more often than not in open space.

But when we struggle to get it out of the back and pass it around slowly and gingerly with everyone not knowing who the next pass is, then the wingers are useless coz they are always doubled with little space to dribble into. Nico Williams will not do any better than the current crop. Id even proffer a guess that he'd be worse than Doku or Bobb as those 2 are better in tight spaces.

We need better fullbacks and central mids. Players who are eager to get the ball and be progressively aggressive.

Agreed.

Don't particularly like getting too much into tactics but our wingers nearly always receive the ball from standing with 3 men in front of them. No one can do anything from there no matter how good they are.
Pretty obvious they need to be getting the ball earlier before everyone is set and give themselves a chance.
If we fired it ro them from deeper maybe we would be in better shape to avoid the catastrophic turnovers too.
