Our former centre-back was attacked and robbed in his house.

He had a belt put around his neck, and the intruders took money and watches were stolen.

I hope you’re feeling better soon, General, and that the police catch those, who attacked you and recover your property.

Awful news, hope he and his family are okay. Unsure you'd ever recover from something like that, especially that poor little child.

Worth having a 24hr security team around the perimeter of your house if you earn the money he does. The lifestyle is great in these European places but life is cheap there and the next man is always looking to take what is yours.

Best wishes to a City legend.

I was going to say it's safer in Manchester, but then I remembered the Stephen Ireland incident....

Imagine it's a difficult thing to overcome mentally. Go way overboard on security and stay safe General.

Seems like a professional hit and they staked him out beforehand as they came with a "shopping list".

According to reports he lives in Aroeira, South of Lisbon. Maybe within the golf course housing complex. Very flat compared to the hills of Lisbon.

Flat terrain, tree coverage and side roads that may provide easy access for criminal trespassers. There is a reason why castles were usually built on hills.

I'd feel safer in a gated apartment complex within Lisbon or to the west of the city.

Lots of impoverished run down neighbourhoods outside the main areas of the city and lots of immigrants from Brazil and Africa living on the margins of society. Who could be lured into criminal enterprise.

Just watching CONMEBOL world cup qualifiers Argentina v Venezuela and he still looks a ball playing centre half. Great player when we had him

Many forget he got into PFA team of the season in the centurions year.

Also got into La Liga team of the season the year we bought him.

Was a very good CB when the team was on song.

He was, scored a few decent goals for us too, v utd stands out. Also does anyone remember when Ibrahimović did that forearm smash on him at the reds ground and didn’t even get a yellow for it? I was livid about that so called challenge, the dirty sod.

He had an annoying habit of going to ground, rather than staying on his feet. I'm not sure I'd describe him as "great", to be honest. But, from memory, he never shirked a challenge.
