There is no such thing really as right or left wing because most people belong to elements of both. We've only seen a Tory government win recently because of a single issue (Brexit) but that issue cannot truly be considered a right-wing thing because many people on the left were in favour of it.I find that people who do not think they are 'political' are right-wing when you actually analyse their beliefs. Of course, they would deny it but typically they are small C conservatives who dislike change and yearn for an imagined past when life was 'better', the sun always shined and we had uniformed park keepers.
It is a canard that only the 'left' are political. Wanting to keep the status quo (or revert to 1958 England) is just as 'political' as wanting a Marxist revolution.
Brexit and Tory voting doesn't mean that the whole country is full of right-wingers because if that was true then how is it possible that Labour will perhaps win a landslide at the next election? Surely the Tories would just win everytime? It's important not to attach an identity to people either way.
I've voted Tory in the past but next time I'll probably vote Labour. I don't agree with everything that Labour stands for but at the moment they appeal to me on most things. If Labour are crap in government and the Tories sort themselves out then I may vote Tory again because why not? This probably means that I sit in the centre or maybe I just don't really care that much about who I vote for to worry about it.
I think most people actually just want a bit normality and peace and quiet because politics is often in the news and it has recently been a topic for nasty arguments. After what happened with the debate around Brexit, my opinion really is that politics is just a poison pill. If you get too involved then you poison yourself from the inside out and you just come to hate people for no real reason which is sad.
