Four of us are heading to Manchester for the Idles gig on Sun 30th January and was hoping to hear some recommendations for places to go for food and drink etc....arriving on the Saturday morning.

Whilst things may change, how are things regarding covid/masks/passports etc? Are most places still open?

Will be staying in a hotel in Deansgate...is there plenty enough around there? I believe Dimitri's and Bem Brasil are good??

We all like a good drink....live music...but not into "clubbing" anymore

If going to Bem Brasil don't have the chicken hearts, they repeat like nothing else. Was tasting them for days after.

You won’t need a Covid pass or masks to go in any pubs or restaurants, you will the gig tho if that’s what you’re going to (?)

Depends how upmarket and posh you want to go for food but I’m maybe not best placed to advise as I avoid town these days unless it’s City.

Dimitri's is great, I'd say probably my favourite restaurant in town.

I drink in the Salisbury, by Oxford Road train station which is a great boozer - plenty of beers on, but has a rock bar ethos, even if it looks like a traditional pub. Avoid Deansgate Locks, full of bellends, and I'd probably avoid the top end of Deansgate too, get a lot of clowns around there too, especially on a Saturday.

Pubs to go to, Peveril of the Peak is a good one, Briton's Protection if you like a whisky. You could always try the Northern Quarter but that's very much more bars/clubs than pubs. Cask on Liverpool Rd is alright too.

Everywhere is open, can get busy, and generally covid passes/masks aren't a necessity but i imagine the pass will be at your gig.

agreed...although a few old style boozers in the NQ still worth a visit....Castle, H&H, Bay Horse ...etc...

The Salisbury looks, sounds like our kinda place...however, my main drink is whiskEy....Irish rather than Scotch :-)

Thanks for this...helpful :-)

We dont have too far to get about, but is the tram/public transport on til late? In Belfast its shite, so not used to decent transport :-/

If you're that end of town, Cask is a great bar just round the corner from Dimitri's - good jukebox and lots of nice Belgian beer.

And none of the wannabe celebrity wankers you tend to get round Deansgate.
