Night out in Manchester recommendations

Entirely depends on the sort of time out you want. If you want a good pint in a decent old school pub then you can’t beat britains protection just near the Hilton on deansgate.

if you want something more cocktail/gin type then three little words is excellent. Again just near the Hilton.

like European beer then cask is your place ( already mentioned ).

if you did Bem Brazil then fancy pints there is the oust house near there.

if you want carnage then stick around great northern, Albert schloss etc. at about 11 you won’t be able to move for pissed up people in the streets.

been a long while since I went out in the NQ but there are tons of bars up that way.

saw someone mention the Salisbury. Not been in there for 20 years so my info is way out of date but if you want a rock bar, if it’s half as good as it was then it’s a great place.

Another good place to start is Atlas Bar which isn’t too far from your hotel on Deansgate next to the train station.
They have weekly guest gins and you’ll get a double with tonic for a fiver which is non too shabby for the city centre. Decent food too and a heated terrace outside .

Well that was a cracking first night :)

Football museum...then Trof for drinks and food back to Yotel for more drinks....Corbieres for more drinks then Mojos for even more drinks.....so a fair amount was had :)

A few more later today, then Idles gig tonight :)

Maybe Peoffrey was right!

I can see why Manchester isn’t a good night out for visitors to the city who don’t know where to go or haven’t got tickets to a certain place; it’s not obvious. Mcr is definitely a place where you need to know your way around and good knowledge of where the decent places are, what nights of the month or times of the year certain nights or events are on.

If you’re looking for a DJ set at a proper club in the Spring or Summer, pickings are very slim. In the last 10-15 years we’ve lost Sankeys, Music Box, Club V, the place Venus moved to after Club V shut, North, Ampersand, One Central, the Phoenix, Planet K… ten years after losing the Haçienda, Konspiracy, Paradise Factory,

And loads of alternative bars or live music venues in Mcr are down back streets, or even down a passage off a back street or up some stairs you didn’t know existed off a back street (ever been to AATMA?), so a one-off visitors to the city have no chance.

Liverpool and Newcastle are much easier places to have a night out if you don’t know where to go.
