Nightclubs

There was a nightclub on Oxford Road in the 1970s next door to a kebab takeaway place that sold clip on ties if you couldn’t get into the club next door ! Remember buying one to get in one night.May have been Jillys ? Same side as the Palace theatre.

There was Jilly's, but a bit further up, next to the Odeon, The Tropicana (in the mid 80's) may have been Tiffany's in the 70's not 100%. Jimmy Savile had something to do with it in the 60's (as he did a lot of clubs).

Few memories there, mainly the grim ones though tbh, the one near Stockport station was Heaven n Hell, the Bamboo was on my doorstep and was very handy for a late drink. Hamilton was originally Offerton Palace, also had a spell named Rotters.

Blue Waterfall on Petersgate, not seen it mentioned, now that was a rough house, needed your wits about you in there. The Brookfield (Brookers) was another lively venue in Stockport, always plenty of door wars action taking place.

For an upgrade we'd often go to the Valley Lodge, always a good hunting ground but a long dawn walk back to Hazel Grove if we'd done our money at the bar. Pinewood at Handforth on a Sunday was decent too.

Haha, yes, remember Brookers now - never went in, but always struck by the lack of windows - pre-boarded up it looked like!
In terms of Stockport, I remember for some reason the Puss In Boots pub was the place to go for a while
Yes, when we could stretch to bigger taxi fares, the Valley Lodge was deffo an option too
