I am sure that I have seen at least one interview with Carlos speaking in English. He is taking the piss.

As for thick - I know that Gazza could speak some Italian.

Shame that Gazza can't speak English though!!

As for Carlos he can speak English but, as others have said, it is one thing speaking it to friends and colleagues quite another speaking to millions of TV viewers. And Carlos is, from all acounts, a very shy person away from the pitch and probably doesn't want his every word pored over and scrutinised for a wrong interpretation. I think he is very sensible not to respond in English when interviewed.

As many of you may remember I was one of Carlos' fiercest critics last season but he has redeemed himself this with his attitude and his committment and therefore I am now prepared to defend him.

If Ferguson can escape punishment for dangerous for driving up the hard shoulder for a mile or so whilst all those that are not a knight of the realm sit and wait in a traffic jam. Excuse he needed a shit..... I'm kinda sure a clearly thick fucker like our Carlito isn't getting in any bother.

No Comprende _ you, he, she don't / doesn't understand.
No comprendo _ I don't understand.
More complicated than it appears this foreign language stuff. But, I agree it seems strange , the length of time he's been here .

Half of the lads I grew up with around Manchester didn't know how to speak English. And I know for certain they couldn't learn Chinese.

He speaks English but isn't brilliant at it, so, understandably, he chooses not to do it in public situations.

If, for example, he was translated saying ' I think Mancini is a big shit with the players ' & the headline was spread all around the media to show a rift in the City camp, when he was actually trying to say ' I think Mancini is a big hit with the players' you would all be saying he was thick for allowing himself to be put in that situation.

He doesn't let them trip him up. Smart.

A great deal of foreign players have interpreters for interviews and it is so they are not mis quoted. Remember the days with Anelka and he was constantly miss quoted about his future for the whole time he played for us? The club and players do not want situations like this to happen again. Especially with the way journalists can twist words and interperate things in the wrong way... Like so many of Mancini's press conferences.

Every time Mancini opens his mouth journalists misunderstand him on purpose just to put him in a bad light, so i can see why Tevez chooses to play it safe
