No leadership on the pitch

In my opinion we have two leaders - Kompany and Hart, if them two aren't leading there seems to be a real problem within the back 4 especially.

I would add MDM to that list of leaders - Hull last year was his day.

agree 100% , and he should be 1st choice alongside vinny at the moment , he hasnt put a foot wrong in 2014 , Mangala despite his transfer fee , is not the finished article.

In the old days, someone like Liverpool would have brought in Mangala gradually, perhaps over the course of two seasons, learning the way the team operates bit by bit, until perfecting it.

They would have 'leaders' in that position.

correct , throwing mangala in to high profile games will do more harm than good , let the lad get to the pace of the premier league , and save him from the vultures in the media , who are already writing him off as a flop.

Not sure about leadership on the pitch - Kompany is obviously a good captain, Zaba, too, Hart perhaps.

But as a squad we are still a long way away from having the kind of mentality you see at other top sides across Europe. We lack drive on the pitch, we lack the hunger to go out and play with real intensity week in, week out - you only need to look at the Chelsea game, for example, when every player was obviously up for it and we were fantastic, and compare it to almost every other game this season, where we've never come close to matching that standard of performance/intensity of play.

Real top sides play, if not at exactly that level (there's always an edge in 'big' matches'), then at least at a comparable level in the majority of matches. We don't. A lot of the time, the sheer quality of the players sees us through; when those players aren't performing to their best, we have problems, as we're seeing now.

Going in to the season, I would have hoped that the entire squad would have come out with real determination to defend the title and prove to everyone that we're the best side in the country - a 'no-fucker-is-going-to-take-our-title'-attitude. Instead, we've been, pretty much from the get-go, half-assed in almost everything we've done.

There's still obviously every chance we can win the title - Chelsea are nowhere near as good as they are being made out to be. But it will take a huge collective effort and I'm just not convinced that this group of players have got the hunger and desire to make it happen. Here's hoping I'm wrong.

When city play an important game, they're all up for it. When I doubt city after a couple of bad results, we always come back much stronger so that would suggest our mentality isn't totally wrong. We need to get out the habit of thinking we will walk through games, especially now teams have sussed us out. On our day, we could beat any team on the planet. I got a neutral fan saying to me yesterday that we were going to collapse, I honestly can't agree with him. Over the last few years, I've seen this team pick it self up and go on a good run to shut up the doubters. I'd love us to win the league this year, more than other year yet. It's obviois this team needs new additions and some of our favourites may leave next summer, but for this crop of players to go out with another title would be well justified.

Chelsea?

he played very well against costa , but he has looked shaky since , given time i think he will be a top player , but the media will just hammer him every time he farts at the moment. Would like to see him at left back , he started his career in that position , and hes got to be a better option than clichy and kolarov at the moment , he will have MDM covering him and give him time to build his confidence

I think this is our biggest problem when Vinny is out, no one takes the team by the scruff of the neck and drives the team. The manager is not the screaming kind and Yaya is so laid back he's horizontal most of the time. Making someone a captain doesn't make them a leader we need someone to lead by example, maybe Fernandiho in the centre of the park needs to step up.

Correct and has there ever been a more useless captain than Yaya?

Tevez.

joe hart a leader? are you high?

I honestly believe if there is any bad blood in the dressing room then Joe Hart and Yaya would be the prime candidates and also a player that could have contributed to bad blood against mancini.

A player that has underperformed largely for 3 years, doesn't improve (or believe) he has any weaknesses and pisses himself when he fucks up and is mr friendly friendly with ANY opposition player; mostly our most hated rivals. I'd rather be bearing down on goal in front of Hart that most keepers. I would expect him to come out starfish; I would meg him, score and then probably get a hug afterwards....
