I thought we were gutless, showed no desire, no passion, no belief ............

The only positive is that United didnt have win by more goals because if they had to go for it (say their GD was 7/8 behind Liverpool) they could have turned on us and easily scored 5 or 6 against that weak display from us!

Our work ethic was nothing short of appalling! United were there for the taking, i think they were pretty poor, and we did absolutely nothing, NOTHING, to capitalise on it! The work rate from Robinho, Ireland, Elano and Caicedo when De Jong and Kompany had the ball was so little that they continually had to go sideways/backwards! Even when we were in a good position, just getting into the final third, we created no danger for them!
Then when we didnt have the ball the work ethic of our lads to try and win it back was disgraceful - we just let them have time and room - we fucking let them win today, we did! and no matter what positives or optimism anyone tries to take from it, we just let them win! I am appalled!

De Jong seemed to be the only one who understood it was a derby, he got stuck in a few times! the rest of them dont deserve their full wages! We were so poor! And im not even that arsed that we lost, its the manner in which we lost! United will never play so poorly against us at the swamp, we'll never get an opportunity like that again! and we showed no desire, belief or passion to get anything from the game!

You are missing the point. They are are the PL current 'champs', are the 'massive' Man Yoo, and as such many supporters are quite happy when their team visit and lie down to them as they are quite within their rights to win every game at the swamp. But thats ok, it was only Derby day, of course it was expected and accepted!!!!!

Our main problem today was the lack of drive going forward.Playing 2 defensive midfielders means that Kompany and de Jong arent driving forward and are happy playing nicey nicey football in the centre circle with no cutting edge, giving the rags time to get men behind the ball. They are hard enough to break down as a back 4,never mind a back 7-8.

Chill out!!

They were not that bad.
We are lacking a good manager and backroom staff that will make us defend better.

Upfront Bellers was missing, so too SWP.

i agree no passion.i think in both the derbys this season we looked too soft ,no passion,no fight in the team today.we also have lacked ideas.we seemed to get to the halfway line and then pass back.

I know, what the fuck!? it was derby day, derby day is (sadly enough) our cup final every year and we played like it was a pre-season friendly! I cannot accept people not working hard, whether we're playing West Brom or anyone up to and includin United!

Look at it this way: if they were having to work really hard because our tempo was fast and furious (no matter how good their players are you dont have to be world beaters to play with some tempo and fire), if Vidic was having to make last ditch tackles, our full back and winger were working tirelessly in tandom working on their full backs, Van Der Saar was always having to be on his toes in case we created a chance; but we ended up losing 3-1 because they have better quality than us - i would accept that! i would be happy to say we worked hard and showed passion for a derby that for a lot of us blues means a lot! Id be a dam site happier than i am now!

We got to the half way line and passed back because (Robinho being marginally the better of the 4 of them) Robinho, Ireland, Elano and Caicedo showed no desire to lose their marker, make a run, if they did make a run and were marked again to make another run, to find space to be passed to! they just all stood or walked around up there like the game meant nothing and for me that is not good enough!

If the full game is on sky as a replay in the night or tomorrow, i might watch it and count the amount of times Ireland and Elano gave the ball away - without any real pressure just passing the ball to a Red shirt! and none of them front 4 showed any willingness to win the ball back off United!
Ireland said in his pre-match interview that he grew up as a United fan idolising Cantona and Keane - today he played like he is still a United fan! and all that progression he's shown this season has made me believe in him a little bit less! He's gonna have to play a blinding last 2 games to make it up to me! a lot of you might suck his dick but he needs to be better than that on derby day if he's our player of the season or the best player in the world as some people were saying in a thread on here on friday!

We played 2 defensive midfielders at the swamp last season - the much-derided Fernandes and Hamann. It didn't stop us launching some fluent attacks, mostly via Petrov's pace. I agree we lack a driving midfielder of the likes of Gerrard or Vieira, that has to be remedied in the summer. It was unfortunate that Ireland chose today to have his worst game of the season.

3-1???????????????????????????????????

Yes because if we were really going for it and creating chances we might have scored a goal! but at the same time because if we were throwing men forward to get goals we would have left holes at the back and their quality may have meant they scored a few themselves! I would have been happier with 3-1 and a good team effort than that lack of effort load of shite we played today!
