Noel Gallagher

If Noel was in touch and not a celebrity fan these days who only appears for the glamour games, surely he'd know 7,000+ have committed to a season ticket, the majority of whom Tom Glick confirmed are NOT current ST holders relocating. So that is essentially around 45,000 season ticket holders which would be the third highest in England. I just don't understand all this going on about our fan base size when our attendances are the 14th highest in all of Europe and next year will be 8th or 9th. Do people have a go at Juventus, Roma, Atletico, Liverpool, Chelsea, Everton, Spurs, Celtic, Feyenoord, etc., all of whom have smaller average attendances than City?

The majority of those teams have smaller grounds for a start....

It's all about the pricing.

Get the ticket prices right and we';; not only sell out 60k consistently, but we'll sell out when we extend the North Stand as well. Noel, like a lot of people in the public eye don't seem to have a clue that many people don't go not because they don't want to but because football has become unaffordable.

Wish he'd do less of the City rent-a-quote stuff. Becoming a parody of himself, almost Calfesque, and for all his musical genius, in interview he makes Rat Boy sound like Bamber Gascoigne.
Rather him than the rag bandwagon C listers though.

Unfortunately it's a generic view of city and he isn't close enough to the club anymore to realise why it might be like that. Price the games right and they will sell out. How many other sides have below capacity crowds? The rags didn't sell out every game though they like to think they did. Big CL games? We don't really embrace the CL and the club have to accept that it needs to be cheap if they want people to go. No booze allowed makes for a lower crowd with City!

Can't wait for City's attendances to move up to 54,000 then hopefully 60,000.

Rightly or wrongly you are only judged a "big club" by your attendances, and this could put City right up there with the likes of Arsenal and many of the European giants.

Plus we'll have higher matchday income (something we currently seem to be miles behind compared with Arsenal et al, and which is really important now we have FFP) ... and (hopefully) a better and more intimidating atmosphere.

What's not to like ?

That's a good post and thanks for all that information about attendances and fans relocating which I didn't know but I should know as I am never off here.

However, that is the reason we should always back Noel. He is a genuine fan and he isn't expected to know everything. Just the same as me and you he has the right to prefer Kolorov over Clichy or the other way round.

All he has to do on the TV is show that he loves the club as much as me and you do. The same goes with Liam and Ricky Hatton - wouldn't swap my celebrity fans for anybody else's.

Also; many on here will agree with him reference his scepticism about the Champions League.
id fuck hatton of tomorrow after that farce of a derby when he sat in the stand with the rag player's

Totally agree, its Derby day you dont sit there with Camel Gob

No time for Noel as ive stated on here before, goes on Talksport as if he's the voice of all City fans, goes London games, the derby and freeloaded a ticket to important Everton game last year, get in the away end if you got enough points, Twat

Alternatively, goes on Talkshite, takes the piss out of Goldstein and Cun*y and generally stands up for us, used to go home and away in the '80's, still goes to enough games now for him ever to be bracketed with the Thick Hucknall's and Angus Daeyton's of this world, despite (presumably) having plenty of other commitments, and is frequently in the corporate seats when he does go so he ain't depriving anyone of a ticket.
I'm quite happy with the way Noel talks about the club and I think he represents us well enough. What would you have him do? Not speak about City when asked? Leave us to go unrepresented?

Could anybody put the link up for the full interview?
It says watch it from on demand, I got Virgin media and can't find it anywhere..
Do I have to have to be with sky to be able to view it?

Can I just add that he pays thousands of pounds a year for top-whack corporate tickets, too?

I've seen people on here slagging him off for not attending every match.

The part-time bastard was travelling around the world playing gigs, appearing on TV, snorting free cocaine, fending women off and earning millions when he could have been sat in the away end at Hull alongside all the proper blues.

As Morrisey said...."we hate it when our friends become successful". A very Mancunian, as well as English, trait.

Absolutely spot on. CSKA a prime example. One of the reasons for the expansion is to make it more affordable for the working class fans while still accommodating the fans who can afford more in the corporate seats and boxes etc. I was talking to four young lads at the Newcastle match and normally they cannot afford to come but at £15 a ticket they could. First game they have been to this season because of the cost and no doubt there will be thousands more like them. Build it and price it right and they will come.

Cheers pal but that's the one before the match, it said there's a full version of it on demand.
Did you enjoy giving it to your rag mates you work with?

Im on leave all week. I hammered them for about 3 hours las night.Soft bastards simply cannot take it

Noel would be buying his own tickets and so on if he had to.
I mean if City stopped sending him the corporate tickets and so on to the matches what's he gonna do, go and start watching Chelski or something? lol come on he'll be in that stadium amongst you and I watching City - after paying for the ticket.

The club probably send him those tickets without his request sometimes. leave him to it.

As for the comments regards to why we're not turning up for CL games and so on - this was out of order and fair enough he can't know everything about how we feel and will probably be out of touch with reality due to his wealth/status but I would of thought it's pretty fucking obvious - many supporters are skint and can't afford to go to matches.
Many mates would love to go but are stuck at home/pub watching the match due to the cost of ticket/transport

Look at the Newcastle and SheffWeds attendances in a lesser competition both at £15, compared to the biggest home game of our CL campaign this season against the team we'll be directly in competition with for second place priced at £35:
Sheff Weds - 32,346
Newcastle - 40,752
Roma - 37,509

There's a huge difference in the importance of these games. With where the club want us to progress to, the CL is by far the biggest game, yet look at the crowd compared to two early round FL Cup games.

and then we have a predicted sell-out for CSKA at the equivalent of £12.50!

Ticket prices is a huge thing with our fanbase. We do not have the fanbases of Arsenal Liverpool or the Rags. Price City games right and the Etihad will be close, if not fully, sold out every game.

They are not expanding the stadium to cheapen the tickets. They are doing it for revenue. It's not going to happen, beyond tokenism.

I was sat next to Liam and Noel when we got beat at Blackburn away in the 90's when we were crap so they can't really be accused of being glory hunters?

still got my match programme signed by them!!!
