Make no mistake if Colo leaves we are in REAL danger of going down. Not just the centre half we will miss he is our captain our leader what sort of message will him leaving send to the rest of the players. Losing Ba was bad enough this will push us over the edge imho.

Rumour mill is in full swing now this morning I have heard the following*:

BBC Radio Newcastle report rumours he has asked to leave are UNTRUE and will lead the team out tomorrow at Norwich.

Colo has been playing away and his Wife wants to move away from the problem.

His Wife and kids went back to Argentina a Month ago and he wants to go back to be with them.

He was spotted last night in Hana Hana (Japanese restaurant in Toon) with his wife and kids, smiling, signing autographs, posing for pictures and saying he loves it here and is going nowhere.

*all wildly contradictory rumours not my own just posted to show the level of panic and confusion happening at the moment.

If he were to be made available Distin would be an ideal choice as stop gap. There are worse sides than Newcastle who are in the relegation scrap, and in my opinion you will be ok for the rest of the season.

Quite a few newsapers reporting Chelsea are ready to make an £8.2m bid to Spanish striker Iago Aspas. Hope its true as surely it rules them out of the running for Falcao.

Buying Marin didn't stop them buying Oscar and Hazard. Torres will surely be gone in the summer too.

The formation they play only allows for one striker, Torres, Ba, Lukaku and possibly Aspas I cant see them adding another 50 million striker. Probably depends of whether Torres leaves though.

Stamford Bridge side close in on Celta Vigo forward.
According to Spanish daily Marca Chelsea are ready to stump up the required €10m (£8.2m) fee to trigger the release clause in their pursuit of in-form Spanish striker Iago Aspas.
The West London side continue to track potential striking additions despite the recent signing of Demba Ba from Newcastle United, who was also the subject of a release clause purchase.
Aspas is in the form of his life having scored eight goals in La Liga this term following a 23 goal haul last term that helped secure promotion to the top tier for his Celta Vigo side.
The 25 year old has risen through the ranks at Celta Vigo in a sedate manner but has hit a rich vein of form over the past 18 months that has led to a great deal of interest in his services.
Chelsea’s interest in Aspas could be considered something of a stop-gap signing before the summer when Roman Abramovich may elect to bring in a big name striking addition as Fernando Torres continues to struggle to put an extended run of form together.
Torres managed seven goals in six games following Rafa Benitez’s arrival but has subsequently failed to net in his last five appearances.

Hope so,keep them away from falcao!

After seemingly losing out in their pursuit of Marseille's Loic Remy when other clubs edged ahead of them, Sunday brought encouraging news that a deal is in the offing to bring the French international forward to Newcastle at a claimed cost of £8m.

Remy had travelled with the rest of the Marseille squad by train to Sochaux ahead of Sunday night's game but his name didn't appear on the teamsheet for that game. He's now now reportedly on Tyneside for final talks over personal terms and medical tests.

A heart problem that came to light during MRI scans failed to derail Remy's move from Nice to Marseille in 2010 and isn't expected to be an issue this time - although the medical process may be more elongated than usual.

Encouragingly, the desire to join United and play club football alongside international colleagues Hatem Ben Arfa, Yohan Cabaye and Mathieu Debuchy looks to have been a stronger motivation than a more lucrative salary at QPR or the chance of Champions League involvement with two Bundesliga clubs who were keen on signing him.

Former Magpie midfielder and Marseille team mate Joey Barton had tweeted on Sunday morning to say:

Good luck to Loic in Newcastle. Don't worry i've told him what to expect. Great guy. Perfect club for him. #toonarmy

And by Sunday afternoon, French media sources were reporting quotes from Marseille club President Vincent Labrune:

"We have an agreement with Newcastle for the transfer of Remy. Loic can negotiate with them."
