(Non-obvious) City players you didn't like

I'll wait for the flak on this one.....

Dennis Tueart.

Overrated poser- thought he was big-time as soon as we signed him. I can't understand what people saw in him, I never liked him as a player or as a director.

1976 overhead was his career highlight, and from where I was (admittedly lower tier, 100 yards away) it looked like he'd fluked it.

The only ex-City player autobiography I'll never read.

Tueart - 'Legend'? - My arse.

I think you're in a very small minority.

A minority of one, I suspect.

D. Mills, B. Thatcher, Nobrat.

Alan Bloody Harper, I hated him with a passion, he increased my desire to kick his arse back to merseyside when he missed a penalty against Leeds in a game we lost 2-1.

Off the top of my head...

Brian Kidd - sorry Brian, I just couldn't be doing with the hair.

Georgi Kinkladze - scorer of possibly the greatest goal I've ever seen live, a bright light in a dark time, fucking lazy, big time charlie.

Keith Curle - overated ponce.

Willie Donachie - great servant; just couldn't be doing with him.

Adam Johnson - great talent that will sadly go unfulfilled at the current rate.

Paul Dickov - legend but shit.

Heath.. bag of shite.

Bollocks scored the winner away at Norwich that kept us up. I was there. We finished 14th that season.

Whats with the depressing threads we've just won the league for pity's sake, a moment to savour and enjoy!!
"Inchy" was rightly chased out of the club for being fucking shite.

I'll never forgive the **** for that miss vs the rags at Maine Road.

I was never that taken with Gary Owen though many, if not most, loved him. I know he's a big Blue still. Sorry Gary.

I didnt rate Goater until his final few seasons. I guess being in the US at the time meant I missed the aurora about him. Loved him in the KK promotion year.

Same with Rosler. Thought he was really nice but shit. :-)

Same with Dickov. Loved him but hated seeing him starting a game.

My favorites up front were Quinn and Wanchope. :-)

Quite alot of the ones are from Pearce's last season with the club (06-07)

Ousmane Dabo
Georgios Samaras
Bernardo Corradi
Hatem Trabelsi
Ben Thatcher
Danny Mills

I also had a somewhat irrational hatred for Darius Vassell, I think it was more to do with the fact he could be an absolute genius and do something that if Messi had done it they'd still be talking about it in 20 years, but then he could also make himself look abit silly and do something that you wouldnt even see down the park on a sunday afternoon.

I don't really like Adam Johnson.

Partly because he pulls that stupid face when he scores. That stupid "Yeah i should be playing every week" face.

But mainly because he was on the OS weight-lifting infront of the mirror, topless with a beanie hat on. Jerk off.

Adam Johnson for me too, arrogance personified.

A mention also to the aforementioned Blobby Fowler who couldnt be arsed to get fit, when I say fit I mean not be overweight. COAB.

Could never warm to Distin either. Very quiet considering he was captain but all to gobby when he went to pompy.

I thought this thread was supposed to be 'non obvious' players? The majority of those listed throught the 10 pages so far seem pretty obvious to me?

Most haven't grasped the idea of the thread and the ones that have got shouted down straight away

Some very interesting players.
i hated and do hate some very popular players.

I always hated Dickov. I loved the Wembley goal but lets be honest, a £1 million centre forward in the third tier of English football in 98/99 should have had us promoted without the need of a dying seconds play off win. Dickov should just have been better, more productive and less annoying.

I dislike Adam Johnson, but that's not really his fault, it's more the fault of all those that have never watched him play a full game. I watched a game in the boozer with a red, and he said how come Adam Johnson doesn't play more, he was starting this game, I said watch, watch how little he does, watch him hide behind his man, yet sulk when the ball never comes. He couldn't believe how crap he was.

Ali B, loved him but I really hated that he used Foe's death as an excuse to leave City, to have his contract paid up, then a month later he was playing in the Middle East, playing for mega bucks. I may have this wrong, but I'm sure this was the case.

Dunne, in his last two seasons. We were obviously trying to get to a higher level, and he was just simply too oafish, and was a constant reminder of how shit we had been

Obviously there's 100's of ex players that were God dam awful, easy to hate.
The player I hated most, Carlo Nash. Couldn't stand his arrogance.

bill williams and stuart lee. inspired signings by malcolm allison from, er, stockport.

another stockport signing i never took to was ken mulhearn, a poseur with bouffant hair who wasn't even a good keeper. he only lasted one season as first choice which made him the luckiest city player to win a league championship medal in 1968. he only got into the first team because harry dowd was injured. the following season, after gifting fenerbahce with the winning goal in the european cup, he was quickly replaced by harry dowd who in turn was replaced by joe corrigan the season after. then he went to shrewsbury. says it all.
