North Stand Construction Discussion

What do people think of the widening of the distance between the seats before they get to the exits, as opposed to keeping the distance between the seats before they get to the exits.

Apologies for the poor screen grab.

It's by design to help ease through the bottle neck of crowd at the bottom after the a game finishes.

Thanks.

I didn't know it's now a legal requirement to widen the distance between the seats near the exits, even though it does make (H&S) sense.

I dont thinks it near exits specifically its dependent on the amount of seats/people above the exit. So for example if there was 20 rows it might have been fine to not taper the egress stairs but adding row 21 meant it needed the taper.

Pretty sure they had to do it in some areas when we added the 3 extra rows in at ground level.

The football bubble is amazing at all levels. Huge crowds at lower league matches as well. Perhaps it will burst but I think it is about people living in a tech world yet still want the human experience of live sport. Music gigs are also huge these days.
I agree some headline acts draw huge crowds, (many of whom don’t necessarily follow the act but just want the experience) but lots of newer and niche acts are struggling to find smaller venues to build an audience, especially as many of the smaller venues are struggling to survive. That is why they are reluctant to accept applications unless they can guarantee a near sell-out and get a good percentage of merch and good bar sales. Anyway, in some respects that is similar to The Etihad, there will be no further expansion unless the seats are filled, and I hope their season ticket plans make it more likely the new capacity will mostly be taken up by local and loyal City fans and not tourists.

Do we know if all the seats above etihad are staying blue? Would have thought they would have put MCFC or at the very least another puma
No idea, I just did a screen grab from the latest video to show how much progress they have made.

If you look at most of the big stadia, the aisles all get wider towards the exits, and this makes perfect sense. I am struggling with going down stairs, now in my early 70s. I was treated to a hospitality ticket to see Bournemouth v City 18 months ago, and in the temporary south stand there were no hand rails, so I had to rely on grandson and step-daughter’s husband to get down to safe exit. It is good to see the North Stand has hand rails at each tier.

Those seats lower down are going to be sold to people with longer legs. Think premium economy.

As Uefa ban advertising for Champions League games, it makes sense to minimise Puma and Etihad adverts on the new seats.

Think we’ve missed a trick not having a rooftop terrace on the hotel - not sure what people think?
