North Stand Construction Discussion

No, but transport is important with the expansion of the Etihad. It's shit now, without 8000 more City fans. As far as we know the Metrolink capacity will still stay the same when the new stand opens. With less room at the back of the North stand for fans waiting for the trams back into town.

Should be another thread to be honest.

There’s a transport thread and a United thread.

The square looks good. I can imagine that people might start gathering here on a match day rather than at Shambles Sq. & the Northern qtr.

Fair enough. The thread does go off topic for a bit every now and again, then goes back to topic again. I just hope the congestion around the 3000 capacity fan zone and the Metrolink station doesn’t become a problem after the match.

Medlock Square is fine but other than matchday it really isn't City-fied is it?

I'm assuming that is a decision taken on purpose to ensure revenues are kept up on concert days and fans of other clubs will not feel uncomfortable spending money there.

Also assume that is why the badge was removed from the glass of the sky bar in a revision of the planning app too

I think you’re right.

They want to make it feel like a square for everyone rather than a… City Square, so that they can attract people going to Co-op Live and day to day customers who aren’t City fans. It’s probably why there is going to be no huge club badge on the sky bar glass windows as was in the initial planning.

I aint knocking it butI can imagine most will give it a go then it'll be back to town.

The food, drink and price will be benchmarked by what's in town and most likely it will be the same chains and outlets. I have always avoided the fanzones at Wembley because I anticipated being ripped off.

The environment looks good. That's all I can discern from the marketing.
