North Stand Construction Discussion

Starting to feel mixed emotions about the North Stand expansion. The hotel, museum, forecourt and most of the seating will cost a bomb. Doubt we'll see affordable fair-priced football again when this all opens.
It’s been past the point of affordable for the better part of a decade, especially if you take children/larger groups. It’s not gonna change.

Can someone explain what the mock-up is for? Is it eventually for passers-by or simply for the architects to see what the finish might look like? It seems odd to me, given the availability of CGI technology.

Cladding mock-ups are for people involved in the development. To see what the exterior facade will look like in real life.

Most of the time cladding mock-ups are tucked away on the construction sites, so the general public don’t get to see them.

As a rule you can find and see cladding mock-ups on-site by looking through fences and over hoardings. ;-)

The Coop Live cladding mock-up was at the entrance to the construction site car park on the Collar site, visible from Alan Turing Way. You could literally stand underneath it.

It is what is known a sample panel and is used to set standards for materials and workmanship for approval by the employers professional team. It may also be linked to the discharge of planning condition 21. The local planning authority have to approve all the proposed materials to be used on the facades. There will be other samples too - of cladding, curtain walling etc
