North Stand Construction Discussion

I went a bit potty on the right side, but there's so many things to take pictures of.

The complexity of the steel work really is impressive.

Great photos JRB! It gives a perspective of scale you don’t see from the excellent drones. I know I will never do the sky walk, but that has convinced me I don’t want to :-D

PS. I missed the mobile crane arm lifting up because I went and had a look around the souvenir store, otherwise I would have video it. Arrrgh! :-(

Apologies.

I've been trying to download the pictures from my Google pixel 8 mobile to my PC so I can photoshop them, but the USB-type C cable I've got isn't transferring the pictures to my PC. I'll post the pictures in a bit from my mobile. I'll definitely post the pictures tonight.

Whilst I'm posting.

I spoke to one of the lads erecting the mobile crane this afternoon. He told me the lift is scheduled to start at 6.30am on Monday morning. I'm assuming that's when everyone involved in the lift will be onsite. He said the lift will take a few hours. The mobile crane is now in situ, with the crane arm raised in the air, and 2 orange straps are around the steel frame that is being lifted into place.

I'm just guessing after looking at the pictures and doing a bit of searching on Google. The mobile crane could be the Liebherr LTM 1750-9.1 9 axle mobile hydraulic crane - Sarens. I'm not 100% sure. The crane looks very similar. So does the tyre configuration, 3,3,1,2. You'll see from the pictures in a bit.

Might take a few hours to lift it. No way it takes a few hours to lift it into place though. And connect it etc. But I guess the lift is the more interesting part. A sped up timelapse type thing would be good, you would think st least Sisk would want that to show.

Hi Everyone,

I've been covering the Etihad Expansion of the North Stand since it started, getting to the ground when I can with weather permitting and after work hours. Was there today and ran out of battery trying to cover the new crane that will lift the next piece of the stand. My video is here hopefully my videos along with CP Overview will serve the fans well in seeing the transformation of the North stand, the hotel, offices and fan plaza. It's an exciting project and I enjoy showing it to you. We are all still learning. I have just got past 2million views on my channel which is great and always take stills were I can at the end of the video for fans to look back at for reference. Hope you watch the videos and I will take creative criticism and hopefully show you good content on what is an exciting upgrade to the stadium. Thanks for taking the time to read this post. Cheers SS Skies

I didn’t mean a few hours to lift it and to fix it into place. What I should have posted, it will take most of Monday to lift it and to fix it into place. I’ve corrected it and updated it. :-) I have been up since 3.40am this morning. :-/

On a serious note. Unfortunately I won’t be able to get to the Etihad on Monday, so if anyone can go down and get some pictures and/or a video of the lift, that would be great. :-)

Hopefully City will video it and post a timelapse video on the OS? I’ll keep on checking Sisk, Linkedin, just in case they video it and post it?

Great photos, I passed the mobile crane on the mancunian way on the way home. Pity I didn't have enough battery charge to get the actual lift of the crane. I didn't think to walk towards the co-op arena and get some pictures from there.
