North Stand Construction Discussion

This is the guy who said there’s a new arena around here, looking around and focusing on the Veldrome he said that must be it, he seemed to miss the big black box! “It’s behind you”

In this one he spots the CooP Arena and says that wasn’t here last June he also thinks it 6 months from last June to today
Doesn’t like the fact the stand isn’t going a round the corners However he’s generally impressed
Gave up after a few minutes. A bit of homework might have helped. All info is in the public domain

Are there lights on the the South Stand equivalents?

Are we destined never to see these working again....!!!???
Here are the legal requirements

Since the blue lights don't meet requirements, must only have been added for decorative purposes

Obstacles not in the vicinity of aerodromes

  • For obstacles that are not in the vicinity of a licensed aerodrome, Article 222 of the Air Navigation Order (ANO) 2016 (as amended) requires that lighting only becomes legally mandated for structures of a height of 150 metres (m) / 492.1 feet (ft) Above Ground Level or more. This legislation requires that:
    • Medium intensity (typically 2000 candela), steady (as opposed to flashing) red lights be mounted as close as possible to the top of the structure and at intermediate levels spaced so far as practicable equally between the top lights and ground level at intervals not exceeding 52 m.
    • The lighting must be displayed at night and arranged so as to be visible from all directions.
  • The above legislation includes provision for the CAA to specify additional lights for particular structures and issue permissions for variance from the requirements in certain cases.

I think some of the high exposure night time shots that @jrb posts from a photographer guy, I think might have show lights on all the piers. A quick google and I can't actually find a picture of lights on but have a vague recollection of seeing them on.

The proposal visual however does show point lights on each pier, including the new ones, I may be confusing it with that.

Re the lights, they exist at the very least on the east and west piers (see blue light in background below on top of the west pier). Doesnt look like they are on the south piers. But the south piers are 7-10m lower than the north stand, and the rest.

The visual of the proposed stand shows lights on the new piers and east west ones. While it doesn't look it, the north stand piers are actually the highest of the lot (at least according to the drawings as drawn in the PA) so if the west east ones need lights, the north ones will for sure.

Only a couple of them work on the east and west sides. The rest never got replaced and have been out for years.

I’m curious how they will erect the trusses on either side of the existing temporary supports, my guess is that will happen when the season ends
