No they really couldn't have said that, I work on phone lines and there's not a chance in hell I'd ever offer up a possible scenario. It would be "I can only tell you that it was sold and the credit is in your account". You have no right to any other information despite the crying and conspiracy theories on here.Very true but surely the club could have said that it was sold to a qualifying supporter who had then clearly sold it on. It seems like there was just bluster and bullshit on the call which would make anyone suspicious.

The OP put his ticket on the exchange and the person who attended the game was a Croatian who paid £200 off LFT for it. When the OP phoned the club to ask how that happened they fobbed him off

Most people have genuine questions about ticket distribution and wondering why so many tickets are ending up on ticket sites. Not just accepting things or having questions is pretty normal in the ‘real world’.
Having questions is normal in 'real life', yes. You don't always get answers however.
Having people post conspiracy theories and making baseless accusations against the club is also 'normal' in the virtual world sadly.

I'm not suggesting they tell him,I'm saying they could have followed up his enquiry, with their own investigation and asked the person who bought it off City, how it ended up on a ticket site.They're not going to tell someone what happened to the ticket (not his ticket as he's sold it in effect) as that would breach data protection even if the person they were speaking to could access that information. It's possible that they could only see that the ticket had been sold on.
The fact that he got abusive with them on the phone isn't going to help.

Look I'm just telling you what I was told. I don't know that they don't, but I'm not going to start doing mental gymnastics because I don't want to believe the club would do something shady.
I sell to the club, the ticket ends up on LFT, besides to buy tickets for the derby you had to meet a certain membership criteria, so I'm not going to BS myself, you shouldn't either.
Either way I don't use the exchange anymore.
I personally find it more believable that individuals exploit the ticket exchange and sell tickets to a tout site for a profit, than that the club does it. Both are speculation and neither is particularly more mental gymnastics than the other. Equally possible is that it is a club employee doing it on the sly without the club knowing it, which isn't the same as club moneymen fucking over the fans.
Totally get why you are annoyed and you are absolutely right to be, no doubt about that. And fair play for following it up and raising it with the club. If I had bought a ticket via the ticket exchange and they gave my details out I'd be pissed off, so I can kind of see why they wouldn't. But they should then follow it up internally and investigate further after it has been flagged.
