North Stand Construction Discussion

Got a quick look around before the weather turns

Re the holes for the supports in terracing. They were there all along. They double up on their use/position. Initially, that's where the temporary barriers were fixed. As the barriers came away as they moved up and down they left holes behind, a couple posters spotted them. I made a guess as below that they might re-use them, which is clever and efficient sequencing. There is more chat on it amongst other pages.

You know, it wouldn't surprise me if they lined up the prop positions, so they attach to the very holes in the new terracing left open where the temporary barriers were fixed to.

just been watching the latest video, just a question- is there no way they could have removed the safety barrier at the bottom of level two then tapered new terracing down to meet up a quarter of the way up from the front row on level one this making on complete stand with no levels

is there a date for completion ? i thought it was this summer but clearly never going to happen.
-Nov '25 for the stand iteself (the stand only) - the club have formally mentioned end of the year - there are suggestions that informally internally the club and contractor are targetting August, without publicly stating it.

- Early Summer '26 - the hotel
- Late Summer '26 - the public square.

The museum/retail/office building was initially meant to be not far behind the stand with completion, but likely to coincide more with the hotel the way it is going.

None of that is final or an official commitment, just what has appeared in public previously.

More detail in the earlier response above, but for total ease, in simple terms as an easy to remember rule of thumb (for everyone asking a similar question).

- end of this year for the stand
- end of next year for everything else.

Be interesting to see when the club come out with information about (half) season tickets based on the timeline above. If they try and sell them in the summer for January onwards or hold off until Summer 2026 and just sell match by match initially.

Thought the same at various times.

8000 extra seats is a lot to try sell individually match by match, for 6 months running. I imagine nobody would want that job, and some sort of half season block sale would be preferable. Time will tell.

Definitely not cast in, I agree they are for supporting the screen.

There is a plate behind that was cast in flush to the column face, these had various Stubs behind within the column with Rebar wrapped around (must be designed for quite a large pull out force.) The stubs have been bolted on afterwards with tapped holes from what I saw over the weekend, the plates are 50mm Thick

I’m trying get my head around how they’ll prop the beams. If you look in the compound pic there are what seem to be yellow gantries? Maybe these are what will be attached to the connectors being welded to the roof?? It still doesn’t explain how they’ll get above the height of the current cables? In other words…. I don’t know [emoji23]

Added thought: If those are gantries then they could be what is going on the roof. Scissor lifts could then be used to access the beams and attach the cables. I assume the beams will be propped as per the South Stand, with supports coming from the new terracing area.

Damn… I think I called that one (sort of) [emoji23][emoji106]
