North Stand Construction Discussion

Have you ever said a positive thing about the construction, I'll wait .....................
I was replying to Blue Smith, stating that the Design & Access statement has screens in each corner of the South Stand, and someone pointed out the area around the pitch and said Leicester had it all. I posted that Brighton had it as well.

There is no point in posting here because certain individuals will attack you.

I am allowed to voice my opinion on the North Stand. Like a lot of fans, we thought we were getting a blue wall, like what Everton and Spurs have done with a vocal home end at one end of the ground, so it makes for a better atmosphere.

No, that’s not me.

Now the scaffold is down you can actually see the brickwork ( brick choice excepted)is decent quality just awaiting a good clean

You can see the detail of the projecting courses and the detail to the structural openings with bricks defying gravity , I’ll be sure not to dawdle in the doorways ! Lol

This is a construction thread and not atmosphere tbf.

Just guessing like everyone else atm.

Whatever is going there, it looks to be pretty big considering the amount of scaffolding being used.

Picture blurred due to enlarging it. But you can still make out the large amount of scaffolding already in place. White hoardings have been erected behind the scaffolding.

The South stand doesn’t look to shabby either.

Saturday.

A closer look at the brickwork.

Would you have preferred a 3 tiered North stand expansion, similar to the 3 tiered South stand, to the current 2 tiered North stand expansion, without the attached fan zone and Hotel? In essence, keeping the Etihad Stadium more symmetrical externally and internally.

Creating the Etihad Model

This model was commissioned in March 2016 and completed in early February 2018. It took an estimated 2000 man hours to research and build during this period. The client and I had met previously and over the course of this commission become good friends.

Interesting that even then, the north stand had a lesser expanse of translucent roof cover than the south (as we discussed previously on here for the current roof)

Credit to them for splashing out on a brick slip soffit system over the openings, rather than a pistolled lintol underside.

Edit. But then I guess had they stuck with the precast panels that would have been the default look, so they were kind of bound to, to stay within the approval.

If you watch one of Colin's videos, you will see that they did the other screen in the off-season so they could take seats out, etc. Maybe they also had to fill that area in first, so they could get access to the back of the screen that is to be built. Now that the season has started, they can do it when games are not being played.

Here is a screenshot from the other screen being built

Here is Colin's Video

The 3rd tier of the away end has the new darker blue seats compared to the 3rd tier of the home end seats.

I doubt City are bothered about the blue tonal colour difference in the seats on the old and new NSL2.
