North Stand Construction Discussion

I hope whoever is looking after the screens in the new development, does a better job than whoever completed the LED wrap around the top of the Co-op arena.

My first night match for a while, and walking from the tram last night I was surprised how many segments don't work/show block primary colours. Not a great look.

Maybe it was the weather....!!??

There is a large degree of cladding and it reflects what is a huge stand. I think Spurs have some kind of wrap around that covers their stand so as to make it more interesting to the eye. The Victorians would have put some gargoyles on there. Keano's head for example.

Surely the stuff inside is the important thing. It is all very well to have a pretty exterior. Remember Maine Road? In any case it looks better than the Rags circus tent and the Birmingham chimney stacks.

What’s important is to fill the stand and the Etihad.

That’s down to the directors.

Pep will look after the team.

I agree generally and the rest of it is great. I just think the cladding looks a bit average.

I’m not a fan at all of the light grey panelling.

Just looks overly large and overbearing.

Might have looked better and more uniform if they’d added more ducts in the lower section.

Me neither mate but I reckon its just a canvas and eventually it will be covered in adverts or pictures of players and achievements.

Apartments nearby so dont have a lot of the segments lit up

Yeah, I really like the development generally, but the cladding… looks cheap
Same. Pity it wasn't done in sky blue. But I suppose it's done to match the rest of the stadium. Which is another argument as to why the rest of the stadium wasn't done in blue. Planning permission when the stadium was originally built in the late 90d/early 00s. The grey looks very bland to me.

Matching to existing structure is mentioned in the design statement They have brightened up the existing structure with banners etc, and it least these can be refreshed The new cladding is very flat and there are large areas which look set to be covered in banners so, hopefully the greyness will be minimised as much as possible

The 3 large LCD screens will add colour and motion and catch the eye. The planting, landscaping, and street furniture will soften the grey, which is very prevalent at the moment during construction. The glass exterior at street level which is currently hid behind the hoardings will help as well. Don’t worry. I have seen this on numerous city centre developments over the years.

I would like to see Joe Mercer Way redeveloped and redesigned. That is very important. ATM it’s in a poor state. Let’s be honest, even with the living wall on the Coop Live Arena side of Joe Mercer Way, Joe Mercer Way is still looks bland and boring, with little if nothing along it.

Let's hope it doesn't go the way of our entrance at S. Currently modelling the new kit is Bobb (injured and likely to leave), Khusanov (4th choice CB), Kovacic (injured and probably leaving) and Keating (now 2nd choice keeper)
