Northern Football League

Re Skelmersdale Amateur Cup games. I was at both matches, Skelmersdale had Heighway in the team for both games. Skem had a penalty saved at Wembley and were basically deflated, they didn't raise their game in the replay but the atmosphere was better at Maine Road I thought. Two very good games though.

I currently referee in the Northern League and live in Crook Town who won the Amateur Cup a 4 times. As part of the celebrations the cup was at Crook Town AFC yesterday. Anyway, whilst i was there i was speaking to one of the committee members and he said they had contacted City with a view to playing a game at Crook. The reason for this is that the current floodlights were donated to Crook by City and a game was played on the 16/12/68 to officially open the new fllodlights. The committee member said they had received a favourable response from City & are very hopeful they can arrange it for the near future. I think Michael Oliver will probably ref it if available as he has strong links with the Northern League & Crook towns chairman. Fingers crossed that i can get the gig as assistant.

That's the norm anyway Aguero. Don't worry tho, there will be some very favourable calls in Citys favour.

That game had a familiar scoreline... 6-1 to City. ;-)

Well bloody hell, what a small world! Great little reception at Crook Town, did you head to Durham County Hall afterwards? I was in the black suit with a name badge on.

Here's pic of the ground I took yesterday, with the floodlights:

As we drove through, we were wondering what the pre-match boozing route would be. Seems like there's a few boozers around there...AND THERE'S A GREGGS!!!! Hopefully we do have a game up there.

Didn't stay long mate as was having to go to work. From the picture you took my house is basically next door to the bungalow that is encroaching into the ground. Most people go to the WMC which is across the road from Jellys Bar. If you do ever take in a game at Crook do not go to Jellys as it is a bit "Hills Have Eyes" if you are not local. It is sad to think that when i was a young un there were 26 drinking establishments and Crook now has about 8. As for Greggs, we have 4 Indians, 3 Chinese and 700 odd pizza shops. Crook is the place to come for a takeaway or if you need a hair cut
