They still do an all-nighters at the Royal in Crewe, it's entertaining.
Is that @ The Box? Was only told about this the other week by one of the djs, was thinking of giving it a go some time.

Spot on. Similar times for me, loved it all. Listen to Northern Soul and you can see where Paul Weller got much of his inspiration from?I had no idea you were a Soulie mate. I’ve got dozens of old NS and Motown records. Love ‘em to bits. I was too young to have been involved at the time though, and I wouldn’t have swapped the music of my teenage years (77 to 83) for all the tea in China anyway. Punk, mod revival, Two Tone, new wave, the birth of indie, and New Romanticism all crammed into 6 years ,and reggae and disco at their peak. Revolutionary musical times......
Do you know Hughie, dj's as Richy Rich? Plays a lot of modern soul

A series of four radio shows about the history of Northern Soul was broadcast in Innsbruck last year. Top tunes and some fantastic insights into the scene!

Richard Searling is playing 'floaters' tonight for those interested. Its a mainstay of my weekend be it sat nights or sunday morning's if too pissed up. Got home tonight and streaming it in iplayer bbc radio manchester. As an exiled manc i like to listen to the station, it keeps me i touch and nice to hear the native accents. We arw friendly folk and its always welcoming to hear us speak to eachother. Northern soul does that, i feel connected by it every week
Wish you had given 2 weeks notice for this for the exiled locals!Manchester soul festival at the printworks this sunday £5 in money goes to christies hospital
Northern soul & motown live bands etc
I only found out myself a few days ago :-)Wish you had given 2 weeks notice for this for the exiled locals!
Or his cover of 'Heatwave'Yeh, Weller was a right magpie. Ripping off the Beatles’ “Taxman” on “Start” was the obvious one, but have a listen to Martha and the Vandellas “I’m ready for love” for a carbon copy of the intro to “Town called Malice”. Shameless!
As time has gone on I find myself much more appreciative - I remember looking down my nose at all the kids who were really into the whole scene at the time - I was too wrapped up in the punk thing but fuck me great music is great music
if you can look past the couple in front - good as they are the girl in the polka dot top really nails it
