Norwich

Proper club Norwich. In the third division Norwich averaged 24671 which was more than they averaged in the division above the year before. In the same division that same season Leeds averaged 24818 and when we were there we averaged 28261; two much bigger clubs from much bigger cities.

Signed fairly well so far. I reckon they'll be around 10th place next season.

Fer, Van Wolfswinkel and Redmond are three very exciting signings for a club of that stature - all three realistically could have gone to clubs with European aspirations. Think Hooper is a huge gamble given the money they've spent but overall I think they've done some great business.

Agree with the comments that Hughton is a very astute manager - one of very few in the top flight with a bit of class and dignity about him.

RvW looks great, but I'm definitely not convinced by Hooper. He's played in League One and the Scottish league ,which I don't believe is any better than League One.

He was alright in the Champions League but I don't think he's anything special.

I think Sunderland are the real Dark Horses this year.

Gutted. I had planned to make this thread tomorrow.

Agree completely that they are dark horses. They have a very good manager in Hughton. Worked wonders at Newcastle on instant promotion. Steadied a sinking ship at Birmingham and now has a good job at Norwich who many predicted would go down last term.

Great signings too. Redmond is lauded as a next top England striker. Van Wolfswinkel was followed by many bug clubs and that's a great coup. Gary Hooper who's basically been the best striker at Celtic since Larsson imo and has banged goals in left right and centre. Few more squad additions but what they lacked were goals and now they should be potent. They actually have a better set if strikers now than any team below the top 6 which is bloody good going.

Expect top 10 next season and wish them and their great fans all the best.

Grasshoppers Zurich?

I have a mate who is a Norwich fan and he's very excited about the season ahead. Mid table at best in my opinion.

thats one position better than they were last season 8th imo.
Southampton have improved. Swansea have improved. West Brom have signed Anelka and already had a good team. I don't see many top half teams having a big dip.

I think Sunderland will start quite strongly with their new pressing system and to quote Di Canio 'being the fittest in the Premier League'.

They have Arsenal, Liverpool and United at home in the first 7 games and I reckon they will get at least 5 points out those games.

I'm just not sure if their squad has enough depth and quality (despite all their recent signings) to sustain a challenge for Europa League spots throughout the season and I can see them starting to fizzle away at by the end of February.

Mignolet will be a miss for them too.

As for Norwich, I hope they do challenge for Europa League this season - I rate Ruddy and Bassong and I think Alex Tettey might be an important player for them in front of the back 4. Leroy Fer looks a good signing too. Wes Hoolahan impresses me and if the strikers they've signed settle in and get goals they'll do well.

But Everton will surely fade into obscurity without the stewardship of the great David Moyes.
