Who can afford his fee and the wages?
He is not exactly going to take a wage reduction is he, he will be here next season Hughes in charge or not.

he will be 26 next season, entering the prime of his career, i don't think he will stay at this project when he can go and showcase his talents at any side in the world.

And getting in any world class players will be near impossible. As someone else said, there will be plenty of big names who are in their twilight years looking for an easy buck, but that is not what we need.
The 'project' may well have to be put on hold for another season at least.
