Home or work, well mostly home these days.
...should City (or the fans) be worried ? Rags need not reply.

I don't know much about the politics of Abu Dhabi, but is there any potential trouble for the ruling family ? I know its not the same situation as Tunisia or Egypt, but its similar to Bahrain, were it seems to heve been clamped down on so far. I don't know much about the politics of Yemen either, except their government is broadly pro-western, even if the people aren't.

So how does this (if at all) affect Abu Dhabi, even if its just the general instability, are they concerned it could spread, are they particularly friendly with Bahrain for instance ?

What implications could it have for City.

I've put the post in here as while a lot of the political stuff will be "off topic", the real interest is in how it could affect City.

As I said at the start rags need not reply.

Well considering lots of people on the forum didn't even know that Kiev was in Ukraine or that Ukraine wasn't a part of a Soviet Union any longer, I'm quite looking forward to the answers on the UAE's political situation. ;)

While the UAE is not what we would recognise as an open and democratic, the benevolence of the ruling families as well as their small size and wealth means that the citizens don't seem to be as unhappy as those in other Arab countries, where the major problems are lack of economic progress, jobs and oppression.

I would imagine Emiratis have far more interest in maintaining the staus quo than over-turning it.

Doesn't the Sheikh make his money out of ADUG anyway? I'm not an expert at all, but I thought he owns that company. The only thing he loses is his Sheikh tag?

Completely non related situations the problems are in the same region "Middle East" but completely seperate governments and reasons for the issues. UAE is very pro west infact they have the largest number of American forces in the Middle East and are "protected" for lack of a better word due to their close relationship and investments in the West.

So to answer your question, nothing to worry about this will not affect City or the owners wealth in anyway.

It would be just be typical city luck,

We finish fourth but lose out on the CL because chelsea win it and finish 5th

then we go bust because the third world war kicks off in the middle east.

and just to top it off The balti pie starts to include fucking sultanas again.

But im sure we will be ok

Nice sentiment, however when any "ruler" or ruling family get thrown out, then their assetts are usually seized by the state throwing them out, simply because of popular demand.

The thing is that all these revolts seem to have roots in different aspects of the local society, I don't imagine there are many "poor" in Bahrain for example (never been so I don't know), and here the revolt is about internal religion (Sunni v Shiite) strife, more than simple economics.

Egypt and Tunisia were about dictators, who weren't doing enough for the people.

Yemen don't like their government because they are pro western.

Iran the people want to be allowed to be more western.

Personally I'm not worried in the slightest, but thought it might be an interesting discussion, especially from those that live out there.

Dubai has had a bit of a crash so could there be trouble as close as that ?
