To be fair to Everton, Villareal had a quality team back then. Riquelme, Sorin, Forlan etc. Lost the tie to a dodgy decision by Collina.
I was at the game at Goodison and the atmosphere was electric. These are nights that we should be looking to emulate.

finish 4th and we bring in top players, we will build a big squad, our bench will be amazing, our first 11 will be unreal.
for once we will be able to bring a player off and bring a better player on as a sub, we will have enough quality in the team for a squad rotation if needed, with alot of games and fixture congestion.

That is why we could do with a kind draw in the qualifying, just to make life easier!
That said if we spend enough in the summer we should have a team more thna capable of dealing with the qualifiers.
You have to look at the bigger picture. I want 4th and if we got it but fucked up qualifying, we would still have deprived one of our rivals of a huge source of income. Spurs and Villa probably wouldn't feel it, but it would be a devastating blow for Liverpool who are already struggling to cope financially.

To ease troubled minds (i.e. OP) losing in the CL Play-off round does not mean we get booted out of Europe altogether. Losing in the CL P-O means you get dropped to the Europa League Group Stage. Not the most fun thing, but it doesn't mean an instant end to Europe.

Yup I agree, some fans setting themselves up for an almighty fall here. But you can't help but get caught up in all the hype .
Iam just glad were even thinking about it. Looking back a few years ago never in my wildest dreams could I have thought we would be in the posion we are in.
Watching the quality players we have at weekends. ( brings a smile to my face every morning I get up now )
just think...if we get 4th what kind of players we will be able to get in the summer. its the key for us making the next step up. our aim is 4th, then win the league, then to conquer europe. once we get 4th we can kick on. you telling me if i offered you 4th you wouldnt bite my hand off? dont be silly.
