There should be a middle ground between "winning a 5th title in a row" and "poor defence with attack that has games where all creativity disappears".

This season hasn't been the disaster some think, and we knew a drop off was coming, but the issues extend beyond the results. We were carved up in the UCL repeatedly.

Football stylistically has gotten a lot faster, mostly as a response to Peps domination. We need to adjust to that.

For one, maybe playing in our really fast, really strong striker from deeper runs instead of hobbling up to the box then passing it around aimlessly before trying to loft a cross in to him while hes triple marked.

Pep is done, his methods no longer work. The players have lost confidence. They don’t take risks because Pep won’t allow them to take risks. Pep has been a great manager and his loyalty to City has been immense, he could have gone to any club in the world and chose us. For that I will always be grateful. But. He looks like he needs a break. We need some fresh ideas.

Well, playing within ourselves would be basic. Taking off Nico when he's been well rested is taking a huge risk in order to get the win is it not? Even if he has a yellow card he has to see the game out in my view. These games are a premier league learning curve for him. Maybe Pep thought he was in danger of getting sent off.
But overall we have to be better at seeing the game out for a draw. It would have been a point gained and Forest would think similarly.

Today just confirmed what we all should know. This team needs an injection of quality and energy. Plus a change of philosophy. Keeping possession without threatening an opposition is not working.
