Nottingham Forest (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

City and pep have disappeared up their own arses. They've forgot the primary aims of football are to score and win. It's sad to see the likes of once magnificent de bruynes and Bernardo's in such decline. As much as it hurts to say, the piss can always binned his players long before it came to this, regardless of name and reputation. Peps learning the premier league has zero room for sentiment. At least Walker new his number was up and got out before he tarnished memories.

Forest are well organised but no one was willing to get at them or make anything happen. Sick of seeing the same old sideways or backwards passing. Would have put Marmoush on for Bernardo and just gone for it a bit more.

Goal was a shocker to concede though, we didn't deserve to lose today. A draw was the fair result.

my thoughts exactly although the old wingers had more creativity feeding them.
Oh i didn't mean it to sound like they’re our only issues. AM is also a mess, KDB is on his last legs but is our only real creative player. Big job for Viana to sort it out…

Pep could legislate for Gvardiol not shutting down the danger as quickly as possible or Eddy being beaten on his near post. Again he can't do their jobs for them in that regard. Nothing to do with his choice of subs earlier on.
We will have to agree to disagree, Nico going off changed the game for me.

One of the problems of continued success is that no one questions the manager when things go wrong. Bacon face went on too long and is partially responsible for the problems at the swamp. I remember the no value in the transfer market quote. RM have the right approach, just fucking get the best players even when you don't need them. They always come in handy one day. Lets hope Pep can fix this mess.

Gonna get shit for this but here goes - Pep is done at City - should have started the rebuild after treble season or told the club he wasn’t going to sign an extension and left it to next manager - we have a centre forward on 500 grand a week who touches the ball less than 10 times in every game - Nunez or Rico at right back really ? We don’t buy fullbacks just try and shoehorn centre halves into fullbacks Ake Akanji Gvardiol - as for Jack Grealish a complete waste of money 100 million player never has been or will be - goal conceded today exactly the same as Wembley v rags last season - so much space wide behind us Gvardiol miles away from winger and Eddie beaten near post - Pep has learned nothing and persists with same tactics despite it being obvious that it’s been sussed out long ago - our midfield do not have the energy to play high tempo with or without the ball - sorry Pep it’s been a great ride but the board have been too loyal to you and you have been too loyal to senior players when it’s obvious they should have been replaced before their sell buy date

This is a season of collapse, next season is a season of transition and I honestly feel a new manager would be beneficial to the new style of football that seems to be emerging.

Just think Pep will not adapt to this new landscape, evidence being we have the players that can play fast and direct but he insists on short passes and overloading the midfield, countless times this season teams just sit back and counter, how many losses does it take for Pep to realise it doesn't work. I don't care how bad we are, we shouldn't be losing to Forest, the team today consisted of 6 treble winners.

There's a difference between players downing tools and players that just don't believe in the philosophy and you're clearly seeing the latter, just look at the effort being put in.

I'd be happy for Pep to stay if he adopted a more direct style of play; Chelsea (H), Madrid (H), Newcastle (H), Brentford (A), Spurs (A) but its clear he will not be changing how he sets up his team to attack, Haaland is being wasted, Foden doesn't give a toss, Bernardo is ineffective, bringing in Fernandinho or any other legend wont help, we'll be stagnant unless the manager changes.
Come off it. So what you're saying is Pep should be looking at what other teams that play fast and direct are doing and copy them. You obviously don't realise that every Pep side plays counter intuitive football, passes to players who are being marked, keeping the ball in crowded areas of the pitch, defenders who invite the opposition to come and try and nick the ball. We do high risk football and this is what's made us the eye wateringly successful side that we are. Pep invents new ways of playing footy - it's what he does. He doesn't follow the herd and I for one am glad he doesn't. It's absolutely crazy that we have one overdue bad season in nine years and some of our bottler fans start looking for conspiracy theories. The truth is that a number of factors have conspired against us. The being injury ravaged situation has been brought into sharp focus because the stand-ins aren't currently at Pep's level. Some of our legends are facing the inevitable march of time. Normally, this would in part be mitigated by Phil who is still probably years from his peak. But instead of him leading the charge he's doing a lot of neat and tidy recycling - short sharp passes. However, a fully on it Phil would be surging into the box doing one twos or getting shots away - mostly on target. I'm sure that in due course we'll hear from Phil as to why he hasn't been his usual self all season. We keep ballooning shots like rugby conversions. It is strange, but I have every confidence that next season we'll be hugely better than this one with one or two providing service for Erling!!

For evidence of how we used to boast strength in depth, look no further than City's bench for the Pl clinching 4-1 victory at Brighton on the last day of 18/19

Muric Danillo Otamendi Stones Sane De Bruyne Jesus.

It's even worse when you calculate their ages in 2019

I think this is what missing from our team, Somebody to get hold of the game by the scruff of its neck take control and win at all cost, Nobody wants to take responsibility and break the lines and do something special,

We should be feeding Haaland the ball at every chance, get the ball down the middle playing it into feet around the edge of the box, Stop all these bollocks of keep passing back and keeping going wide, They want you going out wide in the low block, Get Haaland on the ball to hold the ball or pull his man out and somebody runs off the back and into the space,

Also fucking shoot more, today we saw Nico shoot from distance and he was unlucky, We are far too easy to read and teams are happy to see the ball out wide because 9 times out of 10 it goes back and then out on the other wing,

We need more end product and not keeping the ball for 30 to 40 passes, we go from back to front then out wide then back into midfield and it all starts again, lets get some goals on the scoreboard before playing fancy Dan football
