Nottingham Forest (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Come off it. So what you're saying is Pep should be looking at what other teams that play fast and direct are doing and copy them. You obviously don't realise that every Pep side plays counter intuitive football, passes to players who are being marked, keeping the ball in crowded areas of the pitch, defenders who invite the opposition to come and try and nick the ball. We do high risk football and this is what's made us the eye wateringly successful side that we are. Pep invents new ways of playing footy - it's what he does. He doesn't follow the herd and I for one am glad he doesn't. It's absolutely crazy that we have one overdue bad season in nine years and some of our bottler fans start looking for conspiracy theories. The truth is that a number of factors have conspired against us. The being injury ravaged situation has been brought into sharp focus because the stand-ins aren't currently at Pep's level. Some of our legends are facing the inevitable march of time. Normally, this would in part be mitigated by Phil who is still probably years from his peak. But instead of him leading the charge he's doing a lot of neat and tidy recycling - short sharp passes. However, a fully on it Phil would be surging into the box doing one twos or getting shots away - mostly on target. I'm sure that in due course we'll hear from Phil as to why he hasn't been his usual self all season. We keep ballooning shots like rugby conversions. It is strange, but I have every confidence that next season we'll be hugely better than this one with one or two providing service for Erling!!
The truth is that a number of factors have conspired against us.
You can't be serious, every single team has had to deal with injuries, the team he put out should have beat Forest.

This is not a "bad season' it's a complete disaster we are not competing.

'Pep invents new ways of playing footy - it's what he does'

ok but we've been playing this inverted FB and high line nonsense since 22/23, it doesn't work anymore, teams know how to nullify it. So when is he going to 'Invent' something new???

'We do high risk football and this is what's made us the eye wateringly successful side that we are'.

we were only able to play high risk football because we had exceptional technical players, these types of players don't exist in the current market.

Continuing to keep Nico O'Reilly on the bench is a fucking farce.

He deserves his chance to be starting in this team and he's proved it in numerous games.

First team players aren't coming up with the performances this season, It's time to play O'Reilly in particular.
Continuously playing your out of form mates inevitably leads to a parting of the ways

I've seen him a couple of times playing for the U-18's but I haven't seen enough of him to say if he should be in the senior team.

Having said that, What harm would it do giving him game time. I'd rather a young lad given the opportunity than watching Phil Foden scratch his nut sack.
No idea whats going on in foden’s life? maybe he has issues? been quite a lot of “rumours” flying around, but onfield he’s been a disgrace this season, the cliff he’s fell off is seriously steep

It's not the 3 points, it's the decisions of Pep, everybody is gutted about, how many times have we said we don't want to see Kev, Kova, Bernie on the pitch together again add to that Rico playing inverted RB all that was missing was Gundo.

pep has more than enough credit in the bank to have one shite season. Walkers gone. Now it’s time for as good as they have been and we’ll be forever grateful. But if you rest for one minute in football it’s over. Time for gundo Kev bernado stones Eddie kovacic jack to go. Massive rebuild needed pep knows he’s fucked up being too loyal. Win this ffp witch hunt bollocks and spend fuckin big or we’re fucked!
Problem is, I don’t think he knows he’s fucked up being too loyal.

Bernardo Silva playing 90 mins a case in point.

Pep is doing the same shit week in and week out.

Not a Pep outer by any means but fuck me it’s frustrating.

Now I saw the full game replay and I would say when Kova was brought in there are more chances for city to breakthrough forests defence than the previous 60 minutes, opposite to the blame’s posted here. Kova’s fast forward pass was the only viable pass if we want to take a fast counter attack any softer pass will just set the forest defence in position. It is unfortunate that marmouth was just not in advanced enough position to touch the ball in time. But that pass as nothing to do with the goal conceded. It was not even a fast-taken free kick. Doku not moving at all despite a huge gap behind him is the main reason of conceding of that goal. The last 30 minutes are much more proper football than the first 60 minutes.

And blaming the goal on Ederson is outrageous. It is a close range blast and there is no “near post” in this distance range.

Every time I see the Anderson challenge on Foden it looks worse and worse. If fodens foot had been planted it could have been a career ending tackle. Disgraceful decision to not even give a free kick let alone a red card! Yates elbows Marmoush and gets just a yellow card also VAR didn’t even look at it. As disappointing as our performance was they should have been down to 9 men without a shadow of doubt.

About time we got a proper right and left back that can overlap, so when our wingers are doubled up on we have an option there to get the ball over. We won’t win the club World Cup because Pep is going to have to integrate any new players we have and come up with a system they can play so it will be a big experiment to get us ready for the start of the league.

Well said.

That's why I'm not so negative today..

Pep had an enigma today - both a good & bad game. Basically had a defensive smash and grab plan on the road.. team executed well, kept shape and we were very good defensively for the first 60 minutes. Then came the Kova sub and that killed us!

If there was ever a good way to lose a game but still look good.. this was it. A lot better than the other defeats this season that pissed us off royally.

I just don't wanna see Kova again.. the guy has long given up on the team and wants to be elsewhere.

We know the team needs 4 midfielders to phase out no legs & no creativity and there's nothing that can be done till summer, but if we can get points playing defensive and pull off some smash and grabs against teams in better form that'll go a long way.

At this point if a sub needs to be made because of a yellow/ red danger.. get Nico O'Reilly on, hell get Rodri on, but no more Kova self-sabotage please!
I don't know how you've come to the conclusion that it was a good performance. It's a million miles away from where we want to be, and one shot against the post in the whole 90 minutes is quite frankly shit

Your relentless defence of Kovacic is laughable. He was bought as a squad filler has contributed next to fuck all in a city shirt to any of our successes and wouldn’t have gotten on the bench during our peak days under pep. Yesterday he came on and forest rubbed their hands together and proceeded to run straight through us. Is he the only issue of course not. Is him in cm a major issue absolutely I hope he’s gone asap.

I can put up with the result but what really pisses me off is the lack of effort all over the pitch form these players. If I was on the money they're on I'd be running my bollocks off

Let’s just talk about facts instead of rubbing hands in your imagination. Kova be sold is totally ok by me but for the players available now he is a clear improvement to the performance of the team.
