Nottingham Forest (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Let's try playing left footed wingers on the left and right footed wingers on the right. We might then get some decent first time crosses in. A couple of proper full backs might also help. Why are we always trying to re invent the wheel.

We need midfield runners for Doku and Savinho to hit and a no.10 to pull the strings.

The 1st half was OK. We created some nearly moments where we set-up good attacking play in their penalty area but couldn't quite get a good shot off. 2nd half that all evaporated and we went into our shell.

It’s an absolute car crash. A squad full of dads army , new players not sure what they should be doing and powder puff players not physical enough for the league. We are light years behind every other PL team in terms of athleticism and physicality and it shows every week - especially when subs are introduced.

We spent £200m in January and it’s made absolute zero improvement. £200m spent but still end up with Nunes playing full back is a joke.

15 defeats in 30 games is a disgrace but there are 10 better teams than us in the league so it’s probably about right.

A boardroom fixated on 115 took their eyes off the wheel. Pep staying out of pity cause he realised too late that the squad was fucked - especially when he had been told by ALL his trusted backroom staff that urgent refreshing was required last summer but ignored them all.

Absolute car crash and I hope the buck will stop with those responsible.
It is those same people that achieved greatness at the club.

You can’t have it both ways. The journey has been unreal and we were some team but not anymore. Recruitment is the main issue. Far too many dribblers who do nothing and no players who can operate in tight spaces and keep the ball. Why the shift? Haaland? If that’s the case we need superior quality on the wings. Hit and hope Doku and savio ain’t enough right now. Don’t know if they can get any better.

The squad is in a state. Viana has a lot of work to do.

I think everyone knew how Pep's teams played after Barca and Munich. It was no secret. However the difference now is that our players aren't what they were. Far too many are sub par
In part yes but I refuse to believe player for player we are worse

Yes everybody knew how he played ai Germany and Spain but was he there long enough for the rest of the league to catch up or indeed could they have done so

Teams in the prem now know exactly how to play use, Guardiola does not change nor deviate, when I watch the teams play against us in most cases I see teams with a clear plan that are organised and well coached

I look at us and to be frank I see none of that in fact it looks like Guardiola just pushes them out and what happens happens just don’t lose possession

The league has caught us Guardiola refusal to change will be his downfall because it’s killing us, and I genuinely doubt that many city fans enjoy watching us

Football is cyclic it does Not standstill and what Guardiola has achieved I don’t think will ever be replicated but he cannot be above criticism of the boring and predictable stuff we see week in week out

Personally I think he will walk but if he stays for another season and we have another 12 months of this then I don’t see how he can stay. It not about winning stuff season in season out but it is about entertainment it is about competing and I just don’t see that currently

That is never happening under Pep.

What you’re pining for is a GPC clone.

That ain’t happening at City any time soon.

Plus, it happens quite often anyway in the games. Doku swapped over yesterday and his end product didn't improve.
Think it’s just the default setting of the stereotypical English football fan of a certain era.

Cross the ball an infinite number of times and you’ll no doubt win.

Your a bit of a halfwit yourself posting comments like that which deflect reality. In sport your only as good as your last game. Currently our form has drifted company with anything approaching a satisfactory level. While some of the comments are OTT they are reflecting a growing anxiety regarding what is happening both on the pitch and behind the scenes. We all know and appreciate what Pep has done for the club but fears are growing that even he believes he has come to the end of the road.
The other thing is what do people expect when they come on a post match thread after a turgid, dull performance coupled with a dog shit result?Joy and exultation? We've been shite this season at times and yesterday was in line with some of the crap we've played.

You've waited over 14 yrs to post this Mike Bassett beauty.

Kudos.

When we do have the ball out wide. It doesn't help when Haaland is hiding at the back post.

He hardly ever gets across the near post or in front of the defender.

Either that or he knows Doku and Sav can't find him and he's given up.

And yes. I agree on the fullbacks. This inverted fullback into midfield just plays into the oppenents hands. It creates a huge Chasm between CB and the wide players on the turnovers. Space which gets exploited time and time again.

We have 2 proper wide players now and fullbacks that overlap would be benefit them hugely. But instead they are doubled up on and can't pick out a cross, so they recycle the ball back inside.

We lost this game because Forest hoofed a long ball up to the left back position, imagine if they had done that more than once, it could have been 10 nil. We have a goalkeeper that was bought for his kicking, and he is the best in the world at that, and we have a center back who can play left back, but he is injured. Gvardiol is a shit left back, that runs away from the ball, no matter how we or Pep dress it up, everybody in the league knows it, and they use it. Personally i would like to see McFarlane given the job, he is inexperienced and raw, but he is a left back, fast and strong, which would give us McFarlane, Gvardiol, Dias and Khusanov as a back four, easily adaptable to a back three, and with the addition of Nunes a back five.
McFarlane may be not good enough, but he is still better than shit, albeit very experienced shit.

Still annoyed about yesterday, and it'll be worse when everyone else challenging for European qualification wins.
For me it's not the fact we've an aging squad it's the tactics and especially yesterday the ridiculous substitution of Gonzalez. Can we please get back to basics and sack off this wandering full back system as it's currently killing us.
