Should be a good game this, they’re on decent form and like to attack, which should suit us.
Not been to the City Ground since 1993 (I think) when Flitcroft scored a screamer at the end, won 2-0 I think.

For the City game I went with a Forest fan and a Liverpool fan . As I seem to remember they'd only seen their 'teams' about once between them and as I went a fair bit we made the 'democratic decision' of going in the away section.
There were about 15, 000 there apparently and Clive Wilson and Paul Simpson scored for us (just looked both those bits up!)
They were both good players from a time when we had quite a few that weren't too good (being polite here). Forest for their part had the hugely talented Nigel Clough and Gary Birtles playing....
Thinking of one of the Rags all time greats anyone else remember the chorus of 'you're worse than Gary Birtles' from the City fans anytime an opposing striker missed a good chance? Wonder if we actually sang it at the man himself? (I 'm sure we probably did).

There was a time before one of the world cups, '82 or '86 , I can;t remember which, when we played an Engalnd XI warmp-up game at Maine Rd. I remember

Looking forward to this, think the last time for me here was the 1-3. Remember the Goat lobbing the keeper and there may have been a fcuk up for another one of our goals with their keeper kicking the ball out?
 
Last time i went was approx 1995. Last game of the season.
They won 1-0 to qualify for europ with frank clarke as manager. Remember him?

It was kicking off all the way back to the train station.

We were staying over for the night so just stayed in our hotel til all the blues had fucked off home
 
Not bothered about performance , just get the points and get home and rest , busy time coming up , going to be a fiesty game and a ref who is used to being in the championship so will probably let tackles go

Will do the match thread , please dont be such twats as you were in the last games , pretty please
 
Thinking we see a lot of rotation in preparation for UCL midweek. Foden for Grealish, Alvarez for Haaland, Akanji to start… maybe LaPorte as well. Wouldn’t hate giving this game to Ortega. Kalvin Phillips maybe?

I was going for the more realistic option....but yes hopefully 2 ....arsenal maybe getting a bit twitchy and anything but the full 3 pts for them and the nerves will really kick in as their game in hand nearly becomes redundant (nearly)
