Nottingham Forest (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

He put a great free kick inches over near the end .... and played a superb low ball across the Forest box in the first half, which should have been put into the net by another City player.
That first half one should have been the game, how the fuck has no one touched it.

If that was Arse, it hits a defender and goes in

Slow slow fucking slow.
We don’t have a player who can grab the game by the back of the hand and see us over in these type of games.
We looked absolutely clueless
We need a player like KDB. We can't replace him like for like. There is only one of him, but we need someone who can break the lines by beating someone in midfield with skill and strength and carrying the ball. He's not the answer, but Kovacic would have helped us here.

The game is gone now, but I think it's a very big week coming up in terms of chances of winning silverware with Newcastle then Madrid, the title race is over not just because of the 7-point lead Arsenal have, but City will drop more points.

It's now all our eggs are in the Cups basket, it still could be a great season if we win one of the cups then build on that next season
Little chance in Europe. Good chance in Cup but unlikely to play our strongest 11. It's March 22nd as our main chance of silverware and I think we will win.

Plain fact is that some of these players are not as good as some fans think they are.

Talk of big blu sharks etc was laughable.....people think we seecthe team we were 2 - 3 seasons ago.

There's barely a player in the squad fit to lace tge boots of prime walker, David Silva, kdb, Gundogan, sterling and even further back in Kompany Sergio and ferna.

This lot aren't even close some of them never will be...

It's like all those fans who thought Jack Grealish was world class ( but has now found his true level) all over again.....

Dillusional
Your right we are truely fucked.

Sorry but it was the same problem as last season and Pep has not fixed it still. The only player who has pace at the back and recovery speed is AK45 yet there appears to be no consistency in his selection

It's nothing about pace. Neither of those goals we conceded were because of a lack of pace at the back. Neither was the one against Chelsea or Brighton.

It's about losing the ball in areas we shouldn't due to poor build up play and then failing to defend properly from those situations. Nico v Chelsea should have been tighter, Nunes' lack of RB instincts defensively fails to deal with the ball across. Repeat last night, Ait-Nouri fails to get tight enough to Aina and Nunes switches off to let the header come across the goal unchallenged.

The second goal we are marking people rather than space. If you are in a defensive shape you can hold it. Instead Foden jumps, get pulled out of position and no one is alert to closing that space. Far too easy then for Anderson to pick his spot. Similar for Mitoma's equaliser for Brighton.

Foden giving ball away and Semenyo putting in a weak challenge didn’t help for first one either. Comedy of errors.

I've read loads on here about Morgan Gibbs-White being useless, Elliott Anderson being nowhere near as good as Rodri/Bernardo/Foden etc. Both would walk (literally!) into our midfield.

The finish from MGW was absolutely sublime and a superb bit of skill. It did bug me that the cross went over to the far post and was knocked down pretty easily but that was a good goal overall. The goal from Anderson was good but Foden could've done much better I thought - he had a great view of the goal.

I really don't understand this season though. Every second half stinks and it has to be a tactical decision this. If the players are that goosed that they can only play for 45 mins then honestly, we have a massive problem at the club. If we're trying to save energy to win everything I just don't think this team is good enough to do it.

I still think there's a lot of games to go and let's see where we are with 5 games to go before we write ourselves off. Arsenal got a couple of good results but as Wolves v Liverpool and Forest v us shows, you cannot take any team for granted.

It's happened too often this season for it to be 'unlucky'
No it hasn’t. We’ve played like shit in a lot of those games you’re referring to. Spurs, Chelsea, Brighton and so on.

This wasn’t one of those games.

Literally every other time I've seen a one on one with the keeper and the keeper comes out, attempts a save, doesn't get a touch on the ball and contacts the forward and over he goes its a penalty. No matter if he leaves a leg in (they all do) to ensure contact or goes over easily or steps toward the keeper or does it matter where the fucking ball is going. EVERY fucking time its a penalty!

There's literally hundreds of examples of it.

The only time trailing a leg or initiating contact doesn't get a penalty is when the challenge is an upright defender. A keepers sprawled body or extended arms and hands have always been fair game and I've seen some clearly extended leg movement to ensure contact and its still always a penalty. But not on Wednesday. Does anyone believe Arsenal at the Emirates or United at Old Trafford in a tight game aren't getting that. If you do I've got a bridge in London for sale, going cheap. Darren England and his VAR buddies are cunts for not giving that.

Exactly. We seem to slow the tempo and pass the ball around but fail to then have any intensity when we lose the ball. The best City sides controlled the tempo, slowed it down and sped it up at the right times but when we lost the ball had the ability to instantly switch on and recover it.

I don't believe football has evolved beyond us still playing that same way.

Mental take.

It’s a supreme piece of play by Anderson there’s fuck all anyone could’ve done about it.
I agree it's great by Anderson but I disagree there's nothing we could have done to stop it.

Foden gets absolutely done by the easiest 1-2 you'll ever see. And Dias doesn't close down anywhere near quick enough.

Having watched that 2nd Forest goal again I think Foden was very poor. He doesn't react to Andersons movement to any great degree after initially moving forward to engage him, the nicely placed finish was good though.

Unfortunately Foden is very poor at the moment. He is struggling with even simple things. I’m baffled as to why Pep keeps giving him chances.

That 1-2 is not defendable mate. Foden was fucked as soon as they isolated him in a 2 v 1 triangle.

I agree Dias could possibly have closed down the shot a bit quicker but Anderson would simply have taken a further touch to the right to avoid that.

The reality is it’s a superb piece of play by a very intelligent player. KDB would’ve been proud of it.

oh get a grip thats football
if my auntie had wheels she'd be a bike

we couldve been not even in one competition to start with and out both cups in first round but in champions league places is now strangly classed as great season
She might not have wheels, but I’ve heard she’s still a bike!

:-p
