Nottingham Forest (H) | Post Match Thread

Not at our swashbuckling best by any means, but a breath of fresh air after recent weeks. Forest are not a bad side and we made them look fairly poor. De Bruyne, Doku outstanding, Bernardo a different player to recent weeks.

Grealish a revelation in that middle role. Deserves to start there over Foden on current form for his all-round play today, although I just wish he would have the confidence to shoot more often. Had a couple later on which didn’t quite come off but just needs to have a go - eventually one will go in and will do his confidence the world of good. Seeing him cut back for a short pass rather than drive in and let fly gets so frustrating.

Gutted for Nathan Ake. Hope his injury isn’t too bad - that was as solid as our defence had looked for months. Likely a month-plus hamstring job at first glance though, which will be a big blow.

Gvardiol will come good again but clearly needs a rest - he looks mentally knackered as well as physically. Gundogan much better than recently but was clearly tired at the end.

Ortega deserves a long run. Great performance. That first big save from Gibbs-White with the strong raised right arm, I’m not sure Ederson saves that.

Massive step in the right direction overall. Happy blue here.

we build on this, we now claw 6 points back on Liverpool over the remaining games then turn them over at home, we have been in much worse positions and won it
I have never said this since Pep took charge but winning it is out of reach this season. Sign a couple in January and we could make a late run and maybe even with the champions league, but not the premier league this year.

Just back from the game. Really enjoyed that tonight. Injuries to Ake and Akanji have put a bit of a dampener on it, but that was a much improved performance. De Bruyne, Bernardo, Grealish and Doku stood out. Nice to get back to winning ways, let’s hope we can keep the momentum going at Palace.

Some defensive mistakes aside, that was an excellent performance. Could have been 5:1 City.

Doku's ceiling is top 5 in the world. Dias was a proper leader. Gundo did very well, but has always been a bit too subtle for some fans to properly appreciate him, who always focus on what he lacks than on what he gives.

Jack was excellent. Kevin was like his old self. Bernardo too.
Top 5 in the world haha

Anyhow a win, a much needed one but Everton won 4 nil so a little caution may be wise. Liked Jack in the middle.

It was a good game and a big win.
all the simple things started to come off instead of getting punished for a simple bad pass or mistakes, When your luck is out and you lose 4 or 5 games even the simple mistakes get punished, Tonight KDB made a shocking pass and played in Wood and was one on one with the keeper to beat and missed, that sort of thing was punished every week in the bad run.

Let's not get carried away too much, it will need loads more hard work and fight to build on this result
we can not think everything is ok and we can turn up and win now we have got a result under our belts.

Also, it was nice to see Haaland working hard for the team and doing things differently like pulling the defender out for somebody to run off him,

The important thing is to fight for it until it's mathematically impossible. You never know how other teams will handle the pressure and we have to be there to capitalise if they drop even a sliver of momentum.
