Not sure he's under-appreciated by too many on here, to be honest. Not any more, anyway. An excellent footballer, and he comes across as a sound bloke as well. I'm always confident whenever he's in the XI.

I agree. In general defenders are probably mentioned less than more attacking players (or English players) but I certainly think Ake gets his due from City fans and most City media (that I read). I find the US announcers very complimentary of him and repeat a lot of the same plaudits you see here.

I thought Gvardiol was poor first 15 mins but then got better. However, Ake played really well and De Bruyne set 2 goals up so those two pip him.
