Nottm Forest (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Really good result but not a great performance. Not sure what Silva’s role his, he was a bit lost and towards the end it was noticeable that no one wanted to pass to him on the right or so it seemed. Nico G had one of his poorer games and looked knackered. January could be make or break with nine games to be played. We also played some nice football with good interchanges between Foden, Cherki and Haaland. Do wish Foden would cut out the last minute back heels when we are holding onto a lead.

Forest fans think they are part of the the so called "Legacy Club"....fawned by the media etc. Lets hope Burnely and West Ham have a great second half of the season (apart from us) and send them down!
And Sunderland (next game excepted), who when all their league titles are considered, really are a Legacy Club who put Forest to shame!

Silva’s role is chiefly to show younger team mates how to manage games and he does it brilliantly

Proper reporting form the Guardian! (Glendenning)

That City winner: So let’s pick through the bones of that City winner to see if Nottingham Forest had any right to feel aggrieved with it being allowed. As the ball arced towards and beyond the far post on to the head of Gvardiol, Morgan Gibbs-White went to ground near the upright, apparently having been fouled by Nico O’Reilly.

He wasn’t, is the short version. Looking at replays, it seems to me that as the ball was in the air, Gibbs-White backed into O’Reilly, who didn’t yield an inch, prompting the Forest No10 to go to ground. He wasn’t playacting, he just lost his balance. By the time Rayan Cherki struck his shot goalwards, Gibbs-White was back on his feet and the ball went through his legs.

Funnily enough, if he’d just stayed on the ground, he might even have blocked the shot. Any talk that he was wrestled to the ground by O’Reilly seems spurious – at worst, the City defender leaned into Gibbs-White.
has he been hacked we'll all be getting dick pic's soon

When I see Cherki play it reminds me of Ali Benarbia, and he seems to be having the same impact.
He's bloody fantastic isn't he. A transformational transfer. He can unlock all those low block defences a bit like peak KDB did (not suggesting he's better than Kev of course) The balance in our team is so good now. I still think we need to tighten up at the back but when Rodri returns we will be not far off unbeatable. Pep has gone and done it again. This is Pep's City 3.0.

One thing that did piss me off a lot and it’s not the first time is Gvadiols distribution of the ball. He gives the ball away over and over again in some of the most basic positions. If he could sort that out he’d be so so good.
Look at his pass into Cherki for the first goal though.
There’s no other left sided centre half in the premier league who could execute that pass.

I noticed the backheel faux pas. Silly.

I thought the ref did ok today.
Nico done at least 3 fouls early doors which could well have resulted in a yellow but got away with them all then Anderson for them got a yellow for his first foul.
Have seen it happen to us and possibly other teams where it has been role reversal but in the whole I thought he did ok.

Great 3 points.
I agree
It was a tough gig out there for the ref with the amount of cheating by forest
Even Joe Hart mentioned that every time Igor was involved there was a decision to be made
On Igor, I thought he bullied our centre halves and then for some reason he decided he was going to play for free kicks
If he'd stayed up on his feet he'd have had a much bigger influence on the game
Forest had two big chances, one they took, the other was totally fluffed
Our big chances, one went in, two were superbly saved and the fourth Savinho hit a powder puff shot
Xmas turkey's goal wasn't a big chance, but a fabulously hit shot which had a touch of fortune going through GW's legs
And we got away with Gonzo not picking up a yellow despite a number of fouls

I must admit I was worried when I saw the replays of O'Reilly and MGW for Cherki's goal. I half expected VAR to get involved but I did think MGW was trying to con the ref. and win a free kick. Justice served.
