Novak Djokovic

dunno, hardly like he went 2 sets to 1 up and then dropped the 4th 6-1 and then wasted 3 break points in the 5th.

Nadal had a break of serve in the 5th and Djokovic was struggling to move. Either they both bottled it or neither of them did, just face it.

Also, Djokovic hitting clean winners/aces that nothing can be done about isn't 'wasting break points'.

no, I'm right.

Nadal is a legend.

Murray did worse on friday from the position he was in.

You "haven't got it", and by the looks of the thread, you're the only one.
No-one has disagreed with you that Nadal is a legend, you don't need to keep typing it like it is in any way relevant, bloody hell.

No, I'm not the only one that disagrees with your hypocrisy. Look at masterwig's posts.

Nope, sorry, murray was 2 sets to 1 up, threw the 4th then bottled 3 break points in 1 game in the 5th.

Agree to disagree on that basis. Murray is a bottler and is firmly #4. Nadal is not a bottler.

Murray isn't a bottle job. He's just not good enough. It's as simple as that.

Nadal is already one of the all-time greats and Djokovic is on his way to becoming one. Before that the top man was Federer who is widely regarded as the best ever.

Murray is able to compete with Federer now but he's a level below Nadal and Djokovic.

This is correct. Murray is unlucky in that he's playing in an era when there were 2 greats when he came on the scene, Federer and Nadal. As Murray filled out and bulked up muscle wise he became a lot better player, Nadal stepped it up 2 levels and Federer 1 to stay quite a way ahead of them. Then this guy Djokovic, the same age as Murray thinks 'I want some of that Grand Slam stuff, I don't want to be remembered for being good and clowning around' So as Federer's career started to wane we found out that Djokovic was good enough and competing with Nadal. This spurred both on and it's also inspired Federer to be revitalised this season. Murray's not quite got it, when he improves the others step it up. He may beat Federer if they are on the same side of the draw and Lendl might teach him to step forward to take Nadal's top spin early, but his problem is he'll be on the same side of the draw as Djokovic and even if he won the semi against Novak (was close) I don't think he's good enough to perform in semi finals and finals 2 matches on the bounce against these 3 as we saw Djokovic accomplish today. We won't see Murray that good again until Flushing Meadow.

Djokovic won the 4th because he's better than Murray and I'm still failing to see how Djokovic serving aces and hitting winners is Murray 'bottling break points'.

Nadal threw away his own serve in the 5th when all he had to do was serve it out against an immobile man. What cost him the break was him hitting a wayward backhand when he had and open court to aim for at a crucial time.

It seems Nadal is exempt from bottling it cos he's won grand slams in the past.

Murray is mentally beaten before he steps out on court when he plays one of either Nadal or Djokovic. Surely that is more than half of what makes you a "bottle job".

not really, for 2 reasons.

A) There's no proof of this being correct.
B) Put me on the court with Djokovic/Nadal and I'd be mentally beaten beforehand, doesn't make me a bottlejob. Murray can't help it if he's not as good as them 2.

He's beat them both plenty of times anyway.

take a bow son, nearly 5 hours on friday, 5 1/2 hours this morning to beat two of the other 3 top players in the world.

Legend, simple as, amazing feat.

Yep - I agree.

Unbelievable performance.

Interesting thread. A little faulty if people are thinking this is the 'same old Murray'!!

The fact that it took Djokavic FIVE HOURS to get past Murray speaks volumes of the improvement in A.M's game since he employed Ivan Lendl as his coach.

I think he will surge past Nadal in the next 18 months.

In 18 games against Nadal he has won 5 times.
In 11 games against Djokovic he has won 4 times.
In 14 games against Federer he has won 8 times.

Not bad record against three of the all time greats.

To do that and play for 6 hours, and still put a 90 minute shift in for West Brom is incredible.

He did it at Wigan to..

Murray is class, enjoy watching him and hope he wins a grand slam soon

Anyway.... Novak has got himself defaulted/disqualified from the US Open for striking the ball away in anger after being broken, which resulted in a linesperson being struck in the throat by said ball.

Kinell, went down like Bruno Fernandes !

Really gutted for him, he wasn’t looking and it was a complete accident.
I can understand the decision as he did hit it in anger but still think the officials should have used more common sense and gave him a ticking off.
