Now we’ve got Pep Guardiola… (Oasis)

Disagree, there was an absolutely lovely and unavoidable sky blue theme to the Oasis gig on Saturday. Parents with kids who had always known about the city / Oasis connection and the kids having grown up supporting the team together were finally seeing the band together. It was an incredible vibe.

Isn't a fuck up when it was impossible. They was garbage at the etihad before they split, granted that was towards the end and I think they were just shit by that point. I don't think it mattered where these gigs were held, they always was going to go off. I might be boring but I think footy should be kept away from gigs. Don't mind a City badge or his Pep cut out but considering a large portion of your crowd aren't going to be blues it won't go down well. Also not great for Pep to be booed which Noel knew would happen as he dedicates to Pep on his solo gigs and he always asks who are you booing.

Just blast the tunes and lets go. My mate went to Sam Fender the other week at St James Park, it may as well just been a Newcastle home game, black and white flags, champions league music played, that saxophone pre match tune played, Dan Burn coming on the stage with the cup etc. You probably had a lot of Newcastle fans there but not everyone. Yeah I am a miserable fucker.
Manchester City and oasis are connected whether you like it or not.

They just don't know the history of that debt ridden club do they?

You daft fcuker, the red bastards were officially established in April 1902, it was Newton Heath that were established in 1878. Facing a winding up order, Newton Heath found 4 local business men to clear your debt - as of 2025, you're still in debt but getting away with it - and changed your name to mufc aka, Red Bastards!

Your last paragraph. I never knew Sam Fender was a Newcastle fan and to be honest dont know anything about Fender or his music. Sam Fender isn't in the same league as Oasis anyway.

Mixing football and music is fine. I was at the Etihad to see Liam just days after the villa 3-2 game. Of course Liam mention it City fans starting singing Champions again and the scousers booing. All in good humour with beer flowing. Scousers knew Liam would mention it, Oasis showing their support of City doesn't seem to have affected their popularity.

If i went to see Sam Fender I wouldn't be bothered about him showing his support for Newcastle. I would be they for his music.

I thought about this is the other day. How can the Etihad hold gigs with a posh new hotel only a couple of hundred yards away ?.
The customers won't want to be listening to bands night after night plus being gridlocked around the stadium.
If the customers are there for gig its great.

If Oasis are playing, without any doubt every room in that hotel is an Oasis fan going to the gig. The hotel is build to service the events at the Etihad and Co-Op, realistically not many people not attending an event will be choosing to stay there outside of town.

I've worked Sam Fender Gigs, he maybe mentioned Newcastle once, him playing St James is always gonna be different.

Was that the definitely maybe tour where he did the full album start to finish. I was thrre at the CoOp. Cant really expect new music when it's specifically the Definitely Maybe tour.
Yep, that's exactly the tour and that's exactly what it was, money for old rope.

For what it's worth, Bob Dylan described his 1970s tour with The Band (that gave rise to the excellent Before the Flood album) as the money for old rope tour. To be fair, they had reworked most of the material.
Springsteen did something similar a few years ago when he toured Born to Run on its anniversary. (Bruce even went off piste a few times (most memorably during American Skin, which was sadly topical yet again on the night I saw him).... anyway, the thing is, we can expect more than an undoubtedly great singer like LG doing karaoke of his own material.

Not saying I didn't enjoy the night (I did, in fairness) but look, maybe I was expecting too much.

Picked up one of those 72 retro shirts from the Arndale today to wear to the gig on Saturday, had to be done.

Lad in the City shop said they'd sold loads of them since that photo of Pep did the rounds haha.

40 quid with season ticket discount, I don't think that's too bad. Seems pretty well made to be fair.

If I were Liam and Noel I'd have had a dress code saying anyone wearing rag shite to these gigs will be ejected. They've missed a trick not doing that, even just for a fun bit of PR.

I am aware they are connected you numpty, my point was during gigs I prefer artists I go to see to stick to the music and keep football out of it. I remain consistent with my thoughts even when it is about my club and my favourite band Oasis. I have pretty much repeated my original post so if that doesn't sink in then I can't help you much more.

It wasn't a comparison in music as Oasis are levels above. I'd have thought that is quite obvious.

Like my reply to Marvin it feels like I will repeat the original post. You would be at Sam Fender to see Sam Fender of course. But imagine a Sunderland fan having to go to St James Park to go watch their favourite artist. With black and white flags in each seat of the seated areas given out. With the champions league music being played, with the newcastle saxophone tune playing and then Dan fucking Burn walking out. That isn't Sam Fender is it, that is a Newcastle love in with some of his tunes thrown in.

Oasis is tame compared to that. We can agree to disagree. The area I will stand firm on is Noel knew Pep would get shit and booed, it happens at his solo gigs, so to bring him up wasn't needed. He has a cardboard cut out of him on the stage, that's enough.

And as ever, if it is City related everyone laps it up and can't see the logic due to their delusion. Would you want to go to a stone roses gig and have them dedicate songs to fergie, get everyone to sing a united song (closest comparison to the poznan) no all you fannys will be up in arms crying about it. As I put on my last post agree to disagree, making Pep a target needlessly isn't for me.

Lol it’s you who sounds like a massive fanny.

And if Ian Brown was playing in my back garden I’d tell the **** to shut up and fuck off!

Went to watch Ian Brown at the MEN about 15 years ago. He spent half the gig singing about George Best. Just ignored it and carried on.
