Nuclear disarmament?

I'd like to ask a genuine question to the likes of CND supporters and the SNP etc....

In these very uncertain and troubled times:

Do you feel in any way reassured that we have a semblance of a defence capability albeit through the ownership of Nuclear weapons or would you still rather we unilaterally get rid of them and lay ourselves open to the threats of Putin and his like?

Genuine question, has anyone changed their views on this very current topic?

The only time we should get rid of them is when there is a world disarmament from all countries at the same time.
Sadly whilst that is IMO 100% correct it makes the likelihood even less, ergo it looks like we will be spending trillions of pounds developing and keeping up with Jones's.

I was wondering how people that have traditionally felt we should rid ourselves of them feel today?

Genuine answer. I'm a lefty do gooder whatever that means. I always go for Churchill's maxim "Jaw Jaw not War War."

Seeing Putin taking the piss makes me want to go out there and take him on. As a FOC with a heart condition not sure I'd be much use.

Back to the original question, I'm still 100% opposed to the nuclear option, Japan is still recovering from the 2 bombs dropped 80 years ago.

I would back a NATO force going into Ukraine and sorting the bastard out.

You unfortunately can’t put the Genie back in the bottle. There was a time after the Cold War when there was a move to reduce the amount of war heads on the USA and Russia side of things. Now we have someone in the Kremlin who wants to put a gun to the worlds head with them.

We have become too reliant on China for trade which is allowing them free run at having hypersonic delivery systems. I can’t see a situation at the moment where anyone will want to give them up, it will instead have more countries wanting to go nuclear as a deterrent.
