"Nymphs" painting removed.

Have they said which bunch of self important tossers have been listened to in making this stupid gesture?

Back to the days when Victorians placed covers on the legs of tables and pianos, daft.

At last, a thread about nymphs............

Think a few people here have not got the drift - the temporary removal of the painting isn't meant to be censorship per se' - the artist behind the whole concept has asked for the painting to be removed to prompt a discussion about content and perception - viewers are invited to make a comment or observation on a post it note and put it on the wall in the space where the picture was hung. It isn't PC gone mad at all its an artist challenging what people as individual see as PC and where the line - if it exists - is drawn

Who is the artist behind the concept? It ain' Harrison, unless he is still alive aged 122.

By artist do you mean curator? As I didn't know that the person involved in the instigation of this was an artist. I tried to do some research (by looking at their tweets not the most in-depth I know) but all I could find were messages to big companies asking why they their products are not gender neutral.

Of bleeding course not ! The curator of the collection of the museum was on 5Live Drive earlier telling what I quoted - she did mention the artist who was behind it but I didn't pick that up but its one of those modern conceptual installation or performance ideas that are presented as art these days. There's one on the path outside my door - I suspect it was the labrador up the street who's installation it is and if I can prove it is the shitting dog and its owner will be taking part in a performance of mine.

Whoever it was asked for the painting to be removed made a major error of judgement. My view on this is that they thought that they were being clever. Unfortunately actions like this undermine the real issue.

The artist appears to be Sonia Boyce - see BBC news page - North West - Manchester page
