Plus Net are owned by BT, I vowed never to touch BT ever again after my last dealings with 'em.

Sky cant compete with Virgin and BT as they have laid the fibre networks all over the oche so will snap up customers by acquiring the smaller providers
As for not getting Sky because of Murdoch well thats just petty especially considering he doesn't even own Sky

Who owns it then, I thought him and his vermin offspring were all over it?
Get yourself on BT Infinity super fast broadband.Swales lives said:Just got an email from o2, informing me that from Autumn, I will be a Sky customer.
I'm not happy with this at all. I avoid Murdoch's companies (newspapers and TV) and now I'm one of his customers!
It's a pain in the arse this, I'm more than happy with o2, I get a crackin' deal and the customer service is excllent, switching Broadband is an arse ache. So who would you recommend I switch to? and don't say BT, they are bobbins.

With o2 I have Broadband + line rental only, no calls included in the package. (I pay for each call).
I rarely use the phone except for 08xx numbers, basically the line is used for broadband only. I have to get a phone line as Virgin media is not available in my area and a 3G dongle or satellite is slow and/ or prohibitively expensive.
I want the cheapest broadband possible because my standard broadband speed is only max 5.6Mb/s. I don't download music or movies. (An occasional downloaded episode of a series if my mum has missed it and I didn't record it at the time and some iplayer streams for me). There's only me as a user, to get a faster speed I'd have to get fibre optic and the packages are just too much.
I'm paying £24 -£5 (o2 mobile discount) -£1.50 direct debit discount = £17.50 per month. That's for broadband and line rental.
As I abhor anything that has the remotest connection with the Murdoch family I will be looking to switch as well.
Do o2 own the router, I can't remember?

Glad it's not just me Carver, I really can't stand Murdoch and his clan, I don't think it's 'petty' as a poster said earlier in the thread, okay he may not own it outright, but he's all over it - and my personal politics don't sit kindly next to his.
Anyway, I'll have a good look round, I've been on a belting deal with o2, I've been with then for about 5 years now and get unlimited downloads. About 2 years ago I contacted them to get a phone for my daughter, the lad ballsed the order up, sent me a free iPhone 3GS and gave me a discount on my Broadband, it should have been for 3 months, but I've been paying £6.50 per month for 2 years, this Sky thing's bound to put an end to that little treat.
