Oasis. What's the story and Definitely Maybe can both stand toe to toe with the roses debut album, and oasis have just done a lot more great tunes, it's that simple

Exactly mate. Oasis, really simple rhyming pop.

Roses, groundbreaking originality.

There's a place for both but musically the Roses were in a ballpark that Oasis couldn't even see from where they were.

You seem to be agreeing with the complete opposite of your view. Did you actually read the post?

I don't get why people are saying the Roses were original from. Their first album was just the next in line for 4 piece guitar pop. It is exactly the same formula the La's used, but with the added genius of Reni.
In fact the only difference between the Roses and other bands was Reni.

Yes kev. My subtlle wordplay was obviously wasted on you which is both surprising and disappointing as if I were enough to dreate a list of my top 50 posters, you'd be right up there. I can only assume you were distracted at the time.

PS: you are now dead to me and have been replaced in my affections by GDM.

You can't be below drone & corky. That would be just wrong.

Have seen people mention a few times now that the Roses sound was original.

Can someone let me know what was original about it?
Considering all the new sounds that were originating around 88 - 90, imo the sound of the Stone Roses was as unoriginal as you could get, compared to what else was being produced.

It's got to be Oasis for me.

I grew up listening to Rock Music from a young age, since my Mom and Dad both love music from the 70's right up to the 00's, even their wedding song is Wind of Change by The Scorpions, so yeah huge influence of Rock Music in my family

My personal top 5 bands(in no particular order) would be
1) Led Zeppelin
2) Pink Floyd
3) The Doors
4) Scorpions
5) Dire Straits
