Obsession or the edge of madness.... Blue Moon Rising

Ex-girlfriend was like this with me. Whenever we were playing in Europe on a Thursday night I just used to say I was going out with my mum, because I knew that if I mentioned football she'd fly off the handle and do the usual:

- "Well what do you expect me to do while you're out?"
- "Is football more important than me?"
- "You talk about football with your friends more than you talk about me. Is something wrong?"
- "It's 22 men kicking a ball."
- "Would you rather go to football or spend time with me?"

In many ways, freedom from a girl at 17 is a good thing.

You did well to get rid in the end mate, she sounds like a bit of a whinger all told.
Actually, I remember when she tried to ruin FA Cup final day for me. The night before May 14th, she told me she didn't know how she felt anymore, and that maybe a break was a good idea for us (think she did it to make sure I was thinking about her while at football). I said that I didn't think it was a good idea and I went to bed. It gets to Cup final day, City win the bloody thing and I don't think about her all day until she texts me: "I guess you don't need me for happiness anymore. You have football as well. Guess you're happier about that than you are with me."

Managed to briefly resolve it until she left me. Meh.

I'm going to be honest with you BOB because you aren't with her any more, that's a ****'s trick on her part. Anybody who tries to make other people miserable is a drain and is better off on their own. If she wanted to wallow in her own angst she could have quite reasonably done it on her own without dragging you into it.

Words my mother also said.

To be perfectly honest, she jumped before she was pushed. I said to Liam the night before we split up that it was definitely coming to the end.

SWT. Except for mums, obviously. Say hi to Liam when you speak to him.

A lot of women have this strange idea that they can change you into their ideal/fantasy man.

Only ever marry a woman who loves you for what you are, and who you love in the same way.

My evil Spanish ex always cheered for the opposition when City were playing. She even supported Argentina vs England in 1998 and Portugal v England in 2006 - evn though she lived in England and had an English kid. Whenever my five-a-side outdoor team were playing and it was raining/snowing she would say "why don't you just not turn up"? She would never make a blue. Thank God my 9 year old daughter is already into the Blues.

Our Doris is a diamond ! I've slowly converted her over the years to supporting City. After the final whistle at the Cup Final she was crying on the phone, she knew how much it meant to me for City to lift that trophy. Whenever I go out to the match she never, ever asks what time I'll be back, she just says "enjoy your day out, Come On City !"

Maybe I'm on the edge of madness but, there is a lot of sense posted in this thread.

My wife (girlfriend at the time) never quite got what it was about football; then I took her to Gillingham Wembley 1999 and she completely and utterly understood what it meant from that day on

City are my first love and have priority over everything else... wife and kids included.

Now that is just being very silly.

Agreed

No it isn't.. going to the match is priority, anyone who would allow the mrs or anyone else, to make them miss a game for any reason is a sad wuss and not a proper blue.

M.C.F.C. have been the only constant in my life.

When I put some weight on and my wedding ring became too tight on my finger I bought a stainless steel MCFC motif ring and wore that on my wedding finger.

Feels more natural than my wedding ring.

Don't tell the wife ffs

TBH she already knows and she knows CITY come first - and so do I....

coming out with shit like "are we unique?" and "it's what makes us special" makes us sound like geordies. fans all over the country are as passionate about their teams as we are. many other clubs have emotional rollercoasters. sheffield wednesday, west brom, hull city, leeds united, liverpool, norwich city to name a few.

we are a great, loyal and passionate set of fans but we are not on our own.

-- Thu Nov 03, 2011 9:23 pm --

yes it is. you've taken the film too seriously. can you honestly tell me that you would put city before your children? a week before christmas, city are at home but the kids have got fuck all and you've only got £150, you're telling me that you'd go to the game?

city mad since 86 youth cup final wife n kids come first tho thats why i only go to games when my dad or our kid borrow me their tickets i always get the derby because my dad doesnt like them but he might come this year after th 6-1
